5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room watching TV.  Stephanie M. brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper for a few minutes, took his dinner order, and began cooking.  He had a hearty appetite and ate well.  He also enjoyed a brief phone conversation with Stephanie.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper return to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Though still interactive, he did not have the energy he exhibited last night and seemed very fatigued when it was time for bed.  I gave him his night time medications and waited while he performed his evening toilette.  He declined any assistance from me.  As he was entering the bedroom, he noticed it was 9:00 and commented that it was too early to be going to bed.  However, he didn’t protest and accepted my offer of turning the TV on for him.  Once he was settled and tucked in, I said good night.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner watching TV.  Michele spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  Dr. Vesper was in a jovial, talkative mood and we enjoyed chatting until it was time for dinner.  He needed to use the bathroom prior to coming to the table, but was a little late, and required a change of clothes.  He was very energetic and insisted on no help from me while he was in the bathroom.  Once he was seated at the table, I did a quick load of laundry including his pajamas and favorite robe.  He ate well and continued to be very interactive.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 103.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I sat with him for a few minutes and enjoyed a National Geographic documentary on national parks.  He continued to be charming and engaging;  more himself than I had seen in a long time.  I truly enjoyed his good company.  At bedtime, I gave him his evening medication, waited while he performed his night time routine, and tucked him in.  He wasn’t ready to go to sleep and requested that I turn his TV on before I left.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken pot pie, and diet cherry 7up.  He declined dessert.
