Monday, August 26, 2019

5:00-9:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the bathroom.  Stephanie M filled me in on the day’s events while we waited on him to finish.  After she left, I took his dinner order and began cooking. He napped in his chair nearly until dinner was served.  He opted to walk to the table rather than use the wheel chair, but he was somewhat unsteady on his feet.  Once he was situated in his chair, he enjoyed a hearty appetite.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 148.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to his chair while I washed the dishes, took out trash, cleaned the kitchen and microwave, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  He remained awake, but very quiet, as he enjoyed an astronomy program on the science channel.  At bedtime, I gave him his evening medications, then accompanied him to the bathroom for his night time routine.  He again declined use of the wheel chair, but I stayed very close by with it.  He accepted my help with changing his brief, then finished on his own.  He had asked that I turn his TV on prior to his getting in bed, but once there, he asked that I turn it back off.  His fatigue was quite evident as I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken cordon bleu, wild rice, peas, garlic bread, diet 7up, and ice cream (Lactaid).

COMMENTS: I took Dr. Vesper’s Subaru in today to have the back passenger tire checked. It has been going flat the past month+, I have been pumping it up almost weekly. It had a very large nail all the way through and could not be fixed, they had to replace the tire. I relieved Michele at 5p, she briefed me on all the exciting happenings of the day before leaving. I ordered refills on all of Dr. Vesper’s medications last week and they all came in on Friday. I didn’t have time to take care of them on Friday, so I worked on getting them marked into inventory and put away, while I waited for Dr. Vesper to get hungry. I made dinner around 6. After dinner, he watched TV until bedtime. PM meds and bedtime routine all normal.

NOTE: Today was my day off, but I filled in for Susan, who was on vacation.
