COMMENTS:  I took care of Kemper and Hillary and emptied litter box.  I got Dr. Vesper up a little earlier than usual so I could get started on shampooing the carpet and mattress. He had morning meds with breakfast. He had a sponge bath and dressed after breakfast. In the afternoon, I had to go to IGA to get more shampoo and decided to pick up sandwiches at Front Street Cafe while I was out. After a short lunch break, Dr. Vesper relaxed and watched TV while I finished the shampooing. We did an abbreviated version of exercise before dinner. Dr. Vesper watched TV while I did the dishes and set the table for morning breakfast and a.m. meds. Dr. Vesper took his p.m. meds and prepared for bed. He got to bed a little later than usual, we had to wait for the mattress to dry before I could put the sheets back on. The carpet was still damp, but should be completely dry by morning.

Monday, October 21, 2019

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner.  Stephanie M brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper, took his dinner order, and began cooking while he perused his mail.  At dinner time Doctor ate well, but it took him a while to complete his meal.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 135.  Mossy and her granddaughter, Kayla, stopped by around this time.  It had been a while since he had seen Kayla and I think he enjoyed their brief visit.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, set out breakfast items and morning medications, and took out the trash.  I also finished and folded the remaining laundry from earlier in the day.  At bedtime, I gave Dr. Vesper his night time medication and waited while he completed his evening toilette.  He did not require my assistance in the bathroom, but did need help getting into bed.  Once he was settled, I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cake, peas, wild rice, toaster corn bread round, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.

Notes: Took care of Hillary and Kemper. Dr. Vesper up at 10:30. He had had a rough night/morning. His pj bottoms and underwear were on floor, sheets and blankets tangled up, chuck pad was up under his head, bed completely soaked through to mattress cover. He had a hard time figuring out which way to go to get out of bed. He tried to roll towards his old side and got frustrated when he could not get to the side of the bed to use the urinal. Got him into bathroom, sponge bath, clean depend and clothes. Stripped bed. Washed mattress pad, sheets, chuck pad and blankets, as all were soaked. He had breakfast. Done exercises, had lunch. He napped and watched TV a little while I done chores. He went to the bathroom at 1, was dry, went again at 3:45 (after repeated reminders to go in between then and 1) and was soaked all the way up his back. Another spongebath, clean depend, clothes, and robe. Went to bathroom again at 4:30. Was very weak today.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner watching TV.  It was a quiet start to my shift as Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events.  After she left, Dr. Vesper and I chatted a bit, I then took his dinner order, and began cooking.  He enjoyed a hearty appetite and ate well.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I sat with him for a bit and watched a National Geographic documentary on Amelia Earhart.  At bedtime I gave him his night time medication, then accompanied him to the bathroom while he completed his evening toilette.  I assisted him into bed, turned on his TV (per his request), and said goodnight.
