5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his chair.  He perused his mail while Stephanie and I discussed the day’s events.  She said he was very conversant through the day, and that continued through my shift.  Just as I took his dinner order, Mary called, and they enjoyed a lengthy chat as well.  When dinner was ready, Dr. Vesper ate with gusto.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 115.

5:00-7:00     After dinner, things continued to run in routine fashion.  Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, set out breakfast items and morning medications, and took out the trash.  At bedtime I gave him his evening medication.  Though he seemed fatigued, he was very reluctant to go to bed, stating he could get there himself.  I sat with him a few minutes, then explained that while I had to leave, it was my job to make sure he got there safely.  He was a bit miffed, but finally persuaded.  I waited while he performed his evening toilette (without assistance), then tucked him into bed.  I offered to turn on the TV, but he declined.

Dinner:     Salad, broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken breast, peas, rice, garlic bread, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his chair watching TV.  As always, Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  It was a typical, quiet start to my shift as I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order and began cooking.  While we were eating, Andrew stopped in briefly to say hello and that he was picking up his car.  Sophie drove him and he will be returning the Subaru tomorrow.  After he left, Dr. Vesper finished his meal, then returned to the living room for more TV.

7:00-9:00     Once Dr. Vesper was settled, I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, set out breakfast items and morning medications, and finished laundry started in the late afternoon by Stephanie.  At bedtime, I gave Doctor his night time medication, then waited while he went to the bathroom and performed his evening routine.  He declined any assistance from me.  Once he was in bed, I tucked him in and said good night.  He was very generous expressing his gratitude for our care.

Dinner:     Salad, baked salmon, macaroni and cheese, peas, toaster corn bread round, and 7up.  No dessert.

Saturday, November 2, 2019

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his chair watching TV.  Michele and I chatted about the day’s events before she left.  Dr. Vesper humored me for a few minutes by looking at some baby pictures on my phone.  I then noticed the “Grandpad” on the table, and together we enjoyed looking at Tyler’s Halloween pictures.  I attempted to get him to play some of the games or music, but he wasn’t interested.  He did say he was hungry, so I took his dinner order and began cooking.  He enjoyed a healthy appetite and ate well.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 144.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room to watch the Bearcat’s football game.  I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I sat down with Dr. Vesper for a few minutes to cheer on the team, but he did more dozing than watching.  At bedtime, I gave him his night time medication and waited while he performed his evening toilette.  He did not require my assistance, but was visibly tired.  Once in bed I tucked him in and said goodnight.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, jasmine rice, croissant, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.

Visitors:     Sandy and her daughter, Maggie, were here working on the lawn.  Sandy asked that I report she accidently hit the electrical box connected to the pool with the mower.  She said she would contact Mossy.  I also had occasion to talk to Mossy and told her as well.
