5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room watching TV.  As always, Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events.  She also helped me to raise and secure a previously broken blind in the living room that I inadvertently closed the night before.  After she left I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order and began cooking.  As Dr. Vesper was coming to the table, I noticed his chair pad was damp and asked him to come to the bathroom first so I could help him into some fresh clothing.  He refused and stated he wanted to eat first.  He did enjoy a healthy appetite and ate well.

7:00-9:00  Once Dr. Vesper finished eating, I reminded him that he should go to the bathroom before returning to the living room.  After several minutes, he came with me and allowed me to assist him with clean up and getting into fresh pajamas.  He returned to his recliner while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime I gave him his evening medications, then waited while he performed his night time toilette.  He did not require my assistance, but was on the commode for over a half hour.  I stood nearby and checked frequently, but he did not need my help getting up.  He was visibly tired by the time we got back to the bedroom.  I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, wild rice, garlic bread, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his chair watching college football.  Michele and I spent a few minutes discussing the day’s events before she left.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper and together we perused the pictures on the “Grandpad”.  After that I took his dinner order and began cooking.  He enjoyed a hearty appetite and ate well.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 127.

7:00-9:00  The remainder of my shift ran in very routine fashion.  After dinner Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime I gave him his evening medications and waited while he performed his toilette.  He did not require any assistance in the bathroom, but was visibly tired when he was finished.  He requested that I turn his bedroom TV on, but then changed his mind once he was tucked in.  He expressed his gratitude for our help and then said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, baked salmon, wild rice, peas, toaster corn bread round, and diet 7up.  No dessert.
