Monday, November 18, 2019

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner.  Stephanie and I discussed the day’s events before she left.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper for a few minutes about Rose.  He really feels her loss as the holidays approach.  He also stated he was hungry, so I took his dinner order and began cooking.  Like yesterday, I noticed a damp chair pad, but he refused to go to the bathroom to change clothes until he was finished eating.  I explained the importance of keeping his skin clean, dry, and healthy which he seemed to understand, but he stated it could wait and promised to go when he was finished eating.  He did eat well and his blood glucose level prior to eating was 147.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper allowed me to accompany him to the bathroom for a quick clean up and change of clothing.  He remained on the commode for quite a while and appeared very weak and winded when he got up.  He accepted a ride in the wheelchair back to his recliner where he enjoyed TV for the rest of my shift.  I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, set out breakfast items and morning medications, replenished Kemper’s water bowl, and took out the garbage.  At bedtime I gave Doctor his evening medication and accompanied him to the bathroom for his night time toilette.  He had regained some strength after resting and decided to use his walker to the bathroom, then to bed.  Once there I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken pot pie, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.
