Monday, December 2, 2019

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was dressed and in his recliner waiting for Stephanie, Mossy, and an insurance agent to discuss Medicare plans.  Stephanie M spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper, took his dinner order, and began prepping the salad.  Mossy arrived a few minutes later and kept me company in the kitchen till the others arrived.  Dr. Vesper was content to watch a movie while I cooked and they chatted.  Once dinner was served, Doctor enjoyed a hearty appetite and ate well.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 151.  Two units of insulin were given.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Once the meeting was over, everyone said good bye and Doctor relaxed in his chair till bedtime.  I gave him his evening medication, then accompanied him to the bathroom for his night time routine.  Once he was finished, I helped him into bed, tucked him in, and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, turkey and stuffing with gravy, corn, roasted vegetables, dinner roll, and diet 7up.  No dessert.

Visitors:     Stephanie, Mossy, and Steve (insurance agent)

Sunday, December 1, 2019

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner.  As always, Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper for a few minutes, took his dinner order, and began cooking.  Though he had two blankets, he stated he was chilly, so I checked to make sure he wasn’t damp and turned the thermostat up a degree.  Within a few minutes he was comfortable and asked that I turn off the TV so he could nap while I cooked.  When dinner was ready, he ate slowly, but well.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner he returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime I gave Dr. Vesper his evening medication and helped him with his night time toilette.  He seemed very fatigued as I helped him into bed.  I tucked him in then said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, baked salmon, wild rice, peas, toaster corn bread round, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner.  Michele brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper for a few minutes, then took his dinner order.  He seemed very fatigued and dozed off and on while watching college football until his sister Mary called.   They spoke at length until dinner was ready.   When it was time to eat, he felt strong enough to come to the table using his walker (he used the wheelchair throughout the day) and enjoyed a hearty appetite.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 142.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Doctor retuned to the living room for more football while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I took a few minutes to remove a few burs from around Kemper’s ears as well.  At bedtime I gave Dr. Vesper his evening medications and accompanied him to the bathroom for his night time toilette.  He was soaked through and required a complete change of clothes.  Once we were finished in the bathroom, I helped him into bed, tucked him in, and said good night.
