5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner watching TV.  Stephanie and I chatted about the day’s events before she left.  Dr. Vesper requested an easy meal which provided me a few minutes to sit with him and watch a documentary commemorating  the Who concert tragedy in Cincinnati 40 years ago.  When dinner was ready, Dr. Vesper came to the table and ate well in the beginning, but was unable to finish his meal. He said he felt fine, but just not as hungry as he thought.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  His sister, Mary, called and he enjoyed a nice conversation with her.  At bedtime, I gave Doctor his evening medication and assisted him to the bathroom so he could perform his night time toilette.  By the time he made it to bed he was extremely fatigued.  I got him tucked in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, pot roast including potatoes and carrots, peas, croissant, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.

Saturday, December 14. 2019

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was bundled up in his recliner watching TV.  He looked quite festive wearing his Santa hat!  Michele spent a few minutes filling me in on the day’s events before she left.  The house was in great shape and it was a quiet evening with little for me to do.  Dr. Vesper and I viewed photos on the “Grandpad” till it was time for dinner.  He ate slowly, but had a  good appetite.  Doctor’s blood glucose level prior to eating was 151.  He asked that I not give him any insulin.  Because lunch was very late, I considered that this might have skewed the values and did not insist.  He promised to do it tomorrow if the levels remain elevated.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime I gave him his evening medications and assisted him to the bathroom for his night time routine.  When he was finished he was visibly tired and more than ready to go to bed.  I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken pot pie, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.
