Saturday, February 22, 2020

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was napping in his recliner, but woke to say a quick hello.  There was some confusion as to the time of day and that persisted until dinner time.  Michele updated me on the day’s events before leaving.  Dr. Vesper alternated between napping and watching TV until dinner was served.  When he got up from the recliner, it was evident he needed a pajama change, so we went to the bathroom first.  He was unsteady and elected to use the wheelchair.  Once at the kitchen table he was more oriented and enjoyed a hearty appetite.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 136.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I also did a load of laundry as the chair cover had gotten wet.  Kemper behaved normally, but laid down on his bed in the laundry room fairly early (8:00) and did not get back up.  At bedtime I gave Dr. Vesper his evening medication, then accompanied him to the bathroom for his night time toilette.  He did use his walker the entire time after dinner.  When he was ready I helped him into bed, tucked him in, and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, wild rice, toaster corn bread round, and diet cherry 7 up.  No dessert.

4:00 pm I helped Dr Vesper onto the toliet but shortly after heard commotion in the restroom and when I returned he was already back into his wheelchair. He did agree to stand back up so I could check his brief which appeared to be dry however he refused to allow me to undress him in order to put the plastic pants on him.

VISITORS/WORKERS:
Elena – Cleaned
Aaronco – Serviced geothermal system

COMMENTS:  I arrived at 8 AM for an appointment with Aaronco.  Kemper had been sick overnight and left several messes, which required immediate attention. I put out fresh water and food for both Hilary and Kemper, Kemper didn’t eat anything. I left for Dr. Miller’s office at 9 AM. I got Dr. Vesper up as soon as I got back from the Vet, he had a sponge bath and dressed before breakfast. He had his morning meds with breakfast. Dr. Vesper had lunch in the afternoon and mostly napped while I continue the clean up from Kemper’s vomiting spree that seem to include the entire house. The large floor mats had to be taken outside and hosed off, area rug had to be shampooed and his bed and blanket washed. Thank God, Elena was here and did all of the routine cleaning. After dinner, I did the dishes and set the table for morning breakfast and a.m. meds. Dr. Vesper took his p.m. meds and prepared for bed.

NOTE 1: In the middle of my very boring morning Aaronco arrived to service the geothermal system. He completed the routine service and found a leak in the system and will need to come back out either Monday for sure or tomorrow if they have a cancellation. He needed to get into the attic to check a part of the system, but I couldn’t get Dr. Vesper‘s car started so we could pull the attic stairs down. I called Jack Connors towing, they came up right away, but he couldn’t get the car started either. I called both Arnold’s Marathon and Subaru. I found out the warranty on the Subaru expired September 2019 and Arnolds can’t get us in until next week. Jack pushed the Subaru out of the garage so Aaronco will be able to access the attic when they come back.  I will have Jack tow the car next week.

NOTE 2: Kemper was sick Tuesday evening, I called Dr.Miller’s office on Wednesday morning and they said if he got sick again to call and they would see him. Kemper appeared to be fine throughout the day on Wednesday, but was sick again sometime overnight and this morning. After Elena arrived I took him to see Dr. Miller. Kemper had a low grade fever and a sore throat, with lots of mucus. They drew blood, he got an injection in the office to settle his stomach down, and came home with a special diet for the next few days and a 10 day supply of amoxicillin.

Sure hope things pick up tomorrow😳
