5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner watching TV.  Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper and took his dinner order.  Though generally quiet, he was much less fatigued than the day before.  When it was time for dinner, he came to the table unassisted and ate well.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  He made one trip to the bathroom without my prompting and no clothing change necessary.  He fell asleep in his recliner until bedtime.  I woke him, gave him his evening medication, and assisted him in the bathroom with his night time toilette.  Once in bed I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, meat loaf, macaroni and cheese, green beans, garlic bread, and diet cherry 7up.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was sleeping in his recliner.  Michele filled me in on the day’s events before she left.  I woke Dr. Vesper long enough to say hello and collect his dinner order.  While I cooked he slept soundly until it was time to eat.  When it was time to come to the table, he requested a ride in the wheelchair, but made the transfer easily.  He ate fairly well, but not with his usual gusto.  He did not want to finish his meal, but asked me to open the “Grandpad” instead.  Together we enjoyed picture viewing until he was ready to return to the living room.  Prior to eating Doctor’s blood glucose level was 195, requiring 2 units of insulin.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper again slept in his recliner while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime I gave him his evening medications and wheeled him into the bathroom for his night time routine.  When he was finished, he elected to use the walker to get to the bedroom.  Once in bed I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, sesame-ginger baked salmon, wild rice, peas, toaster corn bread round, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner watching TV.  As always, Stephanie M filled me in on the day’s events before she left.  Doctor told me he was hungry, but requested an easy dinner.  As I was prepping the salad, he received a call from Mary.  They enjoyed a fairly lengthy conversation.  When it was time to come to the table, I noticed that Dr. Vesper’s clothes were wet, so I took him to the bathroom for a complete change and quick sponge bath.  He was weak and required a ride in the wheel chair.  When we were finished there, I wheeled him back to the dining room.  He ate slowly, but well.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 144.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, took out trash, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime I gave him his evening medications, then accompanied him to the bathroom for his night time toilette.  He was able to use the walker, but was obviously fatigued by the time I got him into bed.  I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken pot pie, and diet cherry 7up.

Visitors:  Andrew arrived just as I was leaving.  He was meeting Stephanie as she was returning the car.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner watching TV.  Mossy spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  She had set the table, made the salad, and began some dinner prep, making it a very easy start to a quiet shift.  When dinner was served, Dr. Vesper enjoyed a hearty appetite.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime I gave him his evening medications, then accompanied him to the bathroom to assist him with getting into his pajamas.  After he finished his evening toilette, he made it into bed entirely unassisted, though I stayed by his side.  I tucked him in, then said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, baked salmon, macaroni and cheese, peas, toaster corn bread round, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was napping in his recliner.   Stephanie M brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  It was an extremely windy, rainy day and I encountered a fallen tree in the lane, forcing me to turn around and go through the school.  I advised Stephanie M of this as well as Mossy.  I woke Dr. Vesper long enough to say hello and take his dinner order.  He slept soundly until it was time to eat.  He ate slowly, but enjoyed a hearty appetite.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 172.  2 units of insulin were administered.

7:00-9:00     Just as Dr. Vesper finished eating, Stephanie G arrived to visit.  She told me she was able to remove some of the debris from the first tree enough to get around,  but encountered a second larger tree.  This necessitated her backtracking and going through the school as well.  While she visited, I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime I gave Doctor his evening medications, then accompanied him to the bathroom for his night time routine.  He seemed more energetic at this point than any other time during my shift and requested that I leave the TV on after he was in bed.  I found a station, tucked him in, and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, peas, naan bread, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner.  Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events as he perused his mail.  With everyone gone, it was a quiet start to my shift, and Doctor napped off/on until it was time for dinner.  When he was coming to the table, I realized his clothing was saturated through to the chair pad, so we made a detour to the bathroom.  He did not object as I gave him a quick sponge bath and changed him into fresh clothes.  While on the commode he also produced a very large BM.  By the time he was finished he was very weak and accepted a ride in the wheelchair to the dining room table.  He ate very well and seemed to regain his strength after eating.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 142.

7:00-9:00.  After dinner, Dr. Vesper used his walker to return to the living room.  I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, took out trash, set out breakfast items and morning medications, and completed the laundry I started earlier.  At bedtime I gave him his evening medication, then accompanied him to the bathroom for his night time routine.  When he was finished, he was quite fatigued and more than ready for bed.  I tucked him in and said goodnight.  Jessica and Tyler returned and I spend a few minutes chatting with them before saying good bye.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken pot pie, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner.  Stephanie M brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  It was a quiet start to my shift as the rest of the family was out enjoying another mild, but very rainy day.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper a bit, took his dinner order, and began cooking. He dozed off and on till it was time to eat.

7:00-9:00     The rest of my shift ran in routine fashion.  After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room to watch TV while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  In the meantime, Stephanie, Jessica, Danny, and Tyler  had some dinner of their own, then joined Dr. Vesper in the living room for a round of reality TV.  At bedtime, I gave Doctor his evening medication, then accompanied him to the bathroom for his night time toilette.  He was on the commode for quite a while.  Though he seemed ok, he eventually accepted my help in getting back up.  Once in bed, I tucked him in and said good night.  As always, he was very gracious in expressing his appreciation for our help.

Dinner:     Soup, salad,  grilled cheese and salami sandwich, and diet cherry 7up.  No dessert.
