5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Mossy were in the kitchen area while Dr. Vesper was out with Joan enjoying a reunion at Fort Scott.  As always, Mossy brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  The house was in good shape with little to do and Rose was alert, so I was able to enjoy some quiet time with her.  She was fairly focused and chatty and that continued throughout dinner.

7:00-9:00     Rose ate slowly, but well, finishing most of her meal.  Stephanie arrived to fill the pill machine and the three of us mingled in the kitchen while I washed the dishes and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Rose was more quiet, but definitely alert and seemed to focus on our voices.  Dr. Vesper arrived home around 8:00.  I gave them both their night time medications and took Rose for her evening toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her (front) teeth.  While on the lift I changed her saturated Depends, and she urinated only while seated.  She exhibited minimal rigidity and less leaning tonight.  We finished and I got her to bed where I applied her eye drops easily.  Her eyes were closed as I said good night to her.  Stephanie had just left and Dr. Vesper was on his way to bed when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Rose had fish, wild rice, green beans, cherry tomatoes, protein milk, and ice cream.  I am unsure what Dr. Vesper had at the reunion.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Mossy had just finished in the bathroom, and Dr. Vesper at church.  Mossy brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  I brought Rose in the kitchen with me while I set the table and began preparing the dinner salads.  It was a quiet late afternoon with leftovers on the menu, so I had some time to relax and visit with Rose.  Unfortunately she was unfocused and fatigued, and my chatter ultimately lulled her to sleep.  Dr. Vesper arrived just as dinner was ready and I had them seated and eating by 6:30.  He enjoyed his usual hearty appetite, but Rose did not eat with the same gusto that I’ve seen recently.  She was awake and alert, but had to be prompted to chew and swallow.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in very routine fashion.  Rose and Doctor returned to the living room to watch TV while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Rose remained awake, but very quiet.  I gave them their night time medications, then took Rose for her evening toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (lowers only) her teeth.  I got her on the lift and removed her saturated Depends.  While on the commode, she urinated, but had no bowel movement.   She leaned severely left and was rigid while changing her clothes.  Once in bed, I applied her eye drops easily and I believe she was asleep before her head hit the pillow.  Dr. Vesper was ready for bed when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, spaghetti with Rose’s sauce, Italian chicken, rice, peas, and garlic bread.  Rose drank Kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose, Mossy, and Dr. Vesper were in the living room/kitchen areas.  Mossy and I spent several minutes catching up on the events of the week while she was gone.  No serious concerns, but we make an effort to share and communicate clearly when it comes to Rose’s and Dr. Vesper’s care.  After Mossy left, Rose continued to nap while I set the table and started dinner prep.  She was awake, however, by the time it was ready, around 6:20.  They both ate well with Rose again finishing 100% of her meal.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift was quiet and routine.  Rose and Doctor returned to the living room to watch TV while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, tended to the washtub drain, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Kemper exhibited no signs of being ill, but he seemed fine the night before at the close of my shift as well.  I gave Rose and Dr. Vesper their night time medications, then took Rose for her evening toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth.  I was able to be very thorough again and hopefully she will have a good dental visit tomorrow!  Though quiet earlier, she was somewhat chatty while getting her in the lift and onto the commode.  Her Depends were wet and she had a moderate bowel movement while seated.  As the night before, it took  some time to complete.  She was leaning and exhibited more rigidity than the night before, but seemed comfortable and no moaning.  We finished and I got her to bed where I applied her eye drops easily.  She closed her eyes and puckered up for a kiss when I said good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was in the living room when I said good night to him.  I reminded him to use his glucose monitor and he promised he would.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, peas, and carrots.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were in the living room and Mona busy in the laundry room.  Mona brought me up to speed on the day’s events prior to leaving.  Other than having a very wet bed this morning, it seems Rose had a good day.  After she left, I took Doctor’s dinner order, set the table, and began salad prep.  Rose was quiet and dozed lightly while Dr. Vesper watched football.  While the food cooked, I finished the laundry, made the bed, and readied the bathroom for Rose’s night time routine.  When dinner was ready, Doctor and Rose both enjoyed hearty appetites with Rose finishing 100% of her meal.

7:00-9:00     After dinner Dr. Vesper enjoyed a telephone conversation with Jennifer.  He put the phone up to Rose’s ear in order for her to say hello.  Although she didn’t speak, Rose pursed her lips in a kissing motion in response to Jennifer’s voice!  They returned to the living room and the remainder of my shift ran in very routine fashion.  I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications (plus Kemper’s last antibiotic), and then took Rose for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed all of her teeth.  She was more relaxed than usual and sat fairly upright while on the commode.  She urinated and had a moderate bowel movement which took a while to complete.  I noticed a small break in the fragile skin around her tailbone.  I cleaned and dried the area well and applied triple antibiotic ointment.  I then took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  She closed her eyes as I said good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was watching the debates when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes, peas, glazed carrots, and toaster corn cakes.  Rose drank kefir milk  and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

3:00-6:00     When I arrived, Sandy, Rose, and Dr. Vesper were in the kitchen/living room areas.  Sandy updated me on the day’s events including some concern that Rose seemed uncomfortable much of the day.  She stated that Rose ate well and was starting to doze as she was finishing her shift.  After she left, I stripped the bed and washed the top sheet, bed pad, and blanket. (Dr. Vesper was in there most of the day and Sandy was unable to get to it.)  I gave Kemper his antibiotic as he missed his early dose.  He received another dose at the close of my shift.  I fed him at 4:00, took Doctor’s dinner request, set the table, and began salad prep.  Dr. Vesper stated that he wanted to go to the gym before church, but when I reminded him of the time, he changed his mind and elected to go to church only.  After he left, I took Rose for her 4:30 toileting.  Her Depends were saturated necessitating a clothing change.  She did not move her bowels, however, she was quiet and seemed comfortable with minimal leaning.  Rose and I returned to the kitchen where she helped me cook dinner (between cat naps) and I had them seated and eating around 6:20, after Doctor returned from church.

6:00-9:00     Dinner went well with Rose and Dr. Vesper both enjoying hearty appetites.  Rose ate slowly, but did not display the discomfort that she had earlier in the day.  Afterward, they returned to the living room to watch TV while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, set out breakfast items and morning medications, and made the bed.  I gave them their evening medications before taking Rose for her night time toilette.  We followed our usual routine of washing her face and hands, then brushing her teeth.  She began exhibiting some anxiety including severe bruxing of her teeth, which prevented me from flossing them.  I got her on the lift and removed her wet Depends.  While seated on the commode, she produced a very small stool and passed a lot of gas.  She leaned extremely to her left, but had no rigidity.  We finished easily and I took her to bed and applied her eye drops.  She seemed to fall asleep nearly before I could say good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was in the dining room utilizing his glucose monitor when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, spaghetti with Rose’s meat sauce, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Sandy were in the kitchen and Dr. Vesper out shopping for a birthday card.  Sandy and I chatted about the day’s events before she left.  When Dr. Vesper arrived, I took his dinner request, set the table, watered plants, and began cooking.  Rose was quiet, seemed comfortable, but did not nap during my shift.  Things ran in very routine fashion up to this point with them both enjoying hearty appetites.  Rose completed her entire meal with little prompting.

7:00-9:00     After dinner while I was cleaning up, Dr. Vesper went down the hall to the bathroom.  On his way there he noticed an uninvited guest lounging along the inside doorway to the back porch sidewalk where Hillary is fed.  He called me back to identify this creature, knowing a snake would likely get a scare out of me.  I did take a quick picture, but was nervous it would go deeper into the house, so the quality was not good.  I got a broom, and Doctor swept it back outside.  He thinks it turned back toward the house entering a space between the door and foundation.  I was unable to see in which direction it went.  I went back to tend to Rose, and Kemper was oblivious to all the commotion.  Following that, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I washed the dishes and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications and Dr. Vesper gave Kemper his antibiotic.  As I took Rose back for her night time toilette, I noticed the cat outside and fed her.  Hopefully her presence will discourage the snake.  Once in the bathroom, we followed our usual routine beginning with me washing Rose’s face and hands, then brushing and flossing (minimally) her teeth.  Except while changing her clothes, she exhibited much less rigidity and leaning tonight and thanked me for my help.  I got her on the lift, then changed her wet Depends.  She urinated and passed a lot of gas while seated, but still no BM.  I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was just getting in bed when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, lemon pepper tilapia, wild rice, and peas.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7 up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid)  for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose, Dr. Vesper and Mona were in the living room.  This was the first time we’ve met, so we spent a few minutes chatting and getting caught up on Rose’s day.  It appears there were no problems and I believe Mona will be prove to be an excellent, attentive caregiver.  After she left I finished making the bed, tidied the bathroom, set the kitchen table, and began dinner prep.  Though Rose was quiet and non-communicative, she seemed much more comfortable today.  When dinner was finished, I had Doctor and Rose seated and eating before 6:30.  They both enjoyed hearty appetites with Rose finishing her meal.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper and Rose returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, set out breakfast items and morning medications, and gave Kemper his antibiotic.  Rose remained fairly quiet through the remainder of my shift, but was somewhat focused and verbal when it was bedtime.  I gave them both their night time medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her evening toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth (about half).  Her leaning and rigidity were pronounced, but I sensed no discomfort.  I got her on the lift and changed her saturated Depends.  She urinated while seated, but no BM.  I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper was already in bed reading.  I reminded him that he should use his glucose monitor, which he promised he would.  He intentionally left the dining room light on as a reminder.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken breasts stuffed with broccoli and cheese, peas, and corn bread toasts.  Rose drank carrot juice and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.
