5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Mossy had just finished Rose’s 4:30 toileting.  We spent a few minutes exchanging ideas on how we can continue to best serve Rose and Dr. Vesper.  Mossy was kind enough to have started the main dinner entree, leaving me plenty of time to focus on salad prep and side dishes.  I set the table and began cooking.  Dr. Vesper elected to take a short nap before dinner was served, so Rose accompanied me in the kitchen while I worked.  She remained very quiet, but seemed comfortable.   I had them seated and eating by 6:45.

7:00-9:00     Rose and Doctor both enjoyed hearty appetites.  Their appreciation for the chicken was obvious with all the lip smacking.  Rose ate her entire meal including a second helping of chicken!  After dinner they returned to the living room to watch TV while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications before taking Rose back for her night time toilette.  She was still alert, but more rigid as I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth.  I was able to brush thoroughly, but could only floss the anterior teeth as she was bruxing furiously.  I got her on the lift and changed her saturated Depends.  She urinated a bit more, passed some gas, but produced no bowel movement.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper was in bed reading and watching TV.  He was waiting to the proper time to use his glucose monitor.  I reminded him that enough time had passed and he could do it any time.  He promised he would get back up and do so.

Dinner:     Salad, Italian chicken, wild rice, and peas.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

Note:     While on my way home, it occurred to me that though I had prepared Dr. Vesper’s evening medication, I did not recall actually handing it to him.  I considered calling him, but given the hour and the fact that I am probably not on his phone’s contact list, I thought he might not answer.  Instead, I contacted Mossy, who in turn, was able to reach him.  He told her he would take it.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose, Dr. Vesper, and Mona were gathered in the living room.  I chatted with Mona about the day’s events before she left.  I took out the garbage, readied the bathroom for Rose’s night time routine, and began cooking.  We had an easy dinner planned and I had Rose and Doctor seated and eating by 6:00.

7:00-9:00     Rose and Dr. Vesper both ate well with Rose completing most of her meal.  She was less alert and more quiet tonight, but did not require much coaxing.  At times she seemed uncomfortable and moaned lightly, but I could not find the source of her discomfort.  After dinner, they returned to the living room for a quiet evening of television.  My shift continued to run in routine fashion.  I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime, I gave them both their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was more rigid tonight as I washed her face and hands, then brushed her teeth.  She was too tight lipped to allow any effective flossing.  I got her on the lift and removed her Depends, which was saturated through her pants.  It also contained a trace of stool and she completed a medium BM while seated.  She sat fairly upright tonight, but when she did begin leaning, it was to her right.  I had not seen that in a long while.  After we finished, I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  She appeared very fatigued, but was still awake when I said good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was still watching TV when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Hamburgers on buns (1/2 sandwich for Rose with cheese, lettuce, and tomato) and sweet potato fries.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7 up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

Note:  I disinfected both the geri chair and transport chair before leaving.  I discovered a urine soaked lift belt late and notified Mossy.  She will launder in the morning.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Sandy were finishing in the bathroom and Dr. Vesper at church.  As always, Sandy brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  We both noted what appeared to be a small bruise on Rose’s lower left lip.  Sandy stated it was there when she got her up this morning.  It does not seem to be causing any distress.   Rose was alert while I set the table and began dinner preparations.  I finished making the bed and readied the bathroom for Rose’s night time routine.  Dr. Vesper arrived just as dinner was coming out of the oven.  I had them seated and eating by 6:30.

7:00-9:00     Rose and Doctor both enjoyed hearty appetites with Rose eating all of her meal.  She was generally quiet, but remained alert and seemed interested in the conversation around her.  She would respond somewhat to questions asked and laughed occasionally.  After dinner they returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Before bedtime, I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose back for her night time toilette.  Things ran in routine fashion beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing her teeth.  Rose remained alert and became even more chatty, which often happens during this time.  I got her on the lift and removed her Depends which was saturated through to her pants.  While on the commode she passed a lot of gas and produced a moderate bowel movement.  When we were finished, I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  She was still awake, but quiet, when I said good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was using his glucose monitor when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, baked lemon rosemary tilapia, wild rice, peas, and corn cakes.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid)  for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Mossy were helping Sandy with the outdoor plants and furniture while Dr. Vesper was in the living room reading.  Mossy had already set the table and started dinner for me, making the early part of my shift less hectic.  She spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving and I continued with meal preparation.  Rose was quiet, but alert during this time.  I had her and Dr. Vesper seated and eating by 6:00.

7:00-9:00     Rose and Doctor both had hearty appetites and Rose made it quite clear that she enjoyed her meal.  She smacked her lips several times saying, “Mmmmm, Mmmmm!”  As usual, the going was fairly slow, but she completed nearly everything on her plate.  Things continued to run in routine fashion the remainder of the evening.  Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications before taking Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  As is often the case, Rose became quite chatty and interactive.  It was difficult to make out her words, but at one point she exclaimed, “Lordy, Lordy”, and began laughing!  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (most) her teeth.  Once on the lift, I changed her damp Depends and she produced a very small stool while seated.  I cleaned and dried her bottom well and applied the triple antibiotic.  Her skin looks much better in this area.  When we were finished, I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  She was no longer chatty, but appeared very much awake when I said good night to her.   Dr. Vesper was in the living room watching TV when I said good night to him.  I reminded him to use his glucose monitor, but I am unsure if that happened.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken cacciatore, pasta, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose, Dr. Vesper, and Mona were in the living room chatting.  Mona brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  Dr. Vesper stated he was hungry, so I set the table and began dinner prep immediately.  Rose was quiet, but awake during this time.  I had them seated and eating by 6:30.  Rose and Doctor both enjoyed hearty appetites with Rose (slowly) completing 100% of her meal.  We enjoyed listening to various political analysts discussing the upcoming election and even Rose became quite verbal, seemingly putting in her own two cents!

7:00-9:00     After dinner, they returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  Things ran in routine fashion beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing (most) her teeth.  She continued to remain alert and chatty while getting her on the lift.  Her Depends were wet and contained a moderate stool which she completed while on the commode.  After clean up, I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying good night.  Dr. Vesper was on the phone when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, beef and broccoli stir fry, wild rice, and corn cakes.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Sandy were in the kitchen and Dr. Vesper at church.  As always, Sandy brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  Rose awakened briefly, then slept soundly during the first part of my shift.  I set the table, prepped the dinner salad, readied the bathroom for Rose’s night time routine, and finished making the bed.  Dinner was ready just as Dr. Vesper arrived, and I had them seated and eating at 6:30.

7:00-9:00     Rose and Dr. Vesper both enjoyed hearty appetites.  Though the going was slow, Rose was alert and ate 100% of her meal.  After dinner, they returned to the living room to watch television while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I took Kemper out on his leash due to a big football game at the high school.  When we returned, I turned back the clocks, then gave Rose and Dr. Vesper their evening medications.  I then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  We followed our usual routine beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing (most) of her teeth.  She was not rigid, but bruxed her teeth furiously for several minutes.  I got her on the lift and changed her saturated depends.  While on the commode, she urinated little and passed a very small stool.  I made sure her skin was clean and dry before applying triple antibiotic cream to her tailbone area.  I saw no new breaks, but her skin appears slightly thickened.  I then took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying goodnight.  Dr. Vesper was still watching TV when I said good night to him.  He promised he would use his glucose monitor.

Dinner:     Salad, lemon pepper orange roughy, wild rice, peas, and carrots.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Sandy and Rose were in the kitchen area, and Dr. Vesper in his bedroom napping.  Sandy, Rose and I discussed the day’s events for a few minutes before Sandy left.  I then set the table and Rose assisted me while I prepped the salads for dinner.  She dozed off and on while the meal was cooking, but she and Dr. Vesper were both awake and ready to eat by 6:15.  They enjoyed hearty appetites with Rose finishing her plate.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in a quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room to watch TV while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their night time medications , then took Rose for her evening toilette.  Though leaning more tonight, things ran smoothly beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing (half) her teeth.  I got her on the lift and removed her saturated Depends.  She faded rapidly and leaned severely left with her head on the towel bar.  She urinated some, but produced no bowel movement.  Mossy stopped by around this time to drop off a few things and poked her head in to say hello.  I finished with Rose and got her ready for bed.  I applied her eye drops easily and she appeared to be sleeping before I said good night.  Dr. Vesper was in the bathroom when we said good night to him.  He promised to use his glucose monitor before going to bed, but I do not know if he did.

Dinner:     Salad, rotisserie chicken, dressing, green beans, and steamed broccoli with carrots.  Rose drank protein milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.
