5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room reading, while Crystal was in the bathroom with Rose.  As always, Crystal spent a few minutes bringing me up to date before leaving.  Dr. Vesper and I chatted for a few minutes about the park dedication to Ray Hayslip.  I then took his dinner order, set the table, took out trash, and began cooking.  Our conversation must have been boring as Rose quickly fell asleep and was snoring within moments!  She woke easily at dinner time and I had them seated and eating shortly after 6:00.  Rose was more focused tonight and she and Doctor both enjoyed hearty appetites.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  While completing these tasks, Rose again fell into a deep sleep.  At bedtime I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.   She was somewhat rigid while changing her clothes, but less than the night before.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (anterior only) her teeth.  She urinated and had a moderate bowel movement (excessive gas) while on the commode.  When we were finished I took her to bed where she seemed quite comfortable.  I applied her eye drops easily and she puckered up for a kiss as I said good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was still in the living room reading/watching TV when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes, peas, and corn bread toaster rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  Rose had ice cream after her meal, but Dr. Vesper declined dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose was napping soundly while Dr. Vesper watched the Master’s golf tournament.  Crystal brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  I took out the trash, set the table, took Doctor’s dinner order, then began cooking.  I had them seated and eating by 6:15, but I had to wake Rose and prompt her frequently to chew and swallow.  She was largely unfocused, seemingly fatigued, and the going was slow.  She ultimately ate most of her meal and Dr. Vesper enjoyed his usual hearty appetite.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Rose appeared to be awake, but she remained quiet and uncommunicative.  At bedtime I gave them their night time medications, then took Rose for her evening toilette.  She was rigid while I changed her clothes, but seemed a bit more focused and responsive.  We followed our usual routine beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing her teeth.  She allowed me greater access than usual and I was able to be very thorough with both.  I got her on the commode where she urinated and produced a small bowel movement (started in her Depends).  I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper was already in bed, but I reminded him that he still needed to use his glucose monitor.  He asked that I leave the lights on so he would  forced to get up to do it.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken cordon bleu, green beans, buttered parsley noodles, and garlic cheese bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Rhonda spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  I took Doctor’s dinner order, set the table, and began prepping for dinner.  He enjoyed a nice chat on the phone with Mary while Rose napped and I cooked.  Once at the table, they both enjoyed good appetites, with Rose seemingly sated earlier than usual.  I later learned she had a fairly large lunch.  Tonight was “glucose monitoring night”, so Dr. Vesper deferred dessert until after the test.  He did not want to have to stay up too late.

7:00-9:00     The evening continued to run in routine fashion.  Rose and Doctor returned to the living room to watch TV while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  He chatted on the phone with Jennifer for a while and Rose remained alert during their conversation and until bedtime.  I touched up the bathroom, gave them their night time medications, then took Rose for her evening toilette.  She was fairly rigid while changing her clothes.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed ( 75%)  her teeth.  Once on the commode she had a large bowel movement (started in her Depends), which took a very long time to complete.  She faded quickly after that and seemed to be sleeping during clean up.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying good night.  Dr. Vesper was in the living room and had completed his glucose testing.  I served him an eagerly awaited bowl of ice cream, which he ate quickly.  I started to go to the other bathroom to check Hillary’s food, water, and litter box.  He told me it was unnecessary as he had just done it and there was no change from earlier (no food eaten and clean box).  He was still watching TV when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, wild mushroom ravioli with sautéed shrimp and asparagus, and corn bread toaster rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room while Crystal was vacuuming in the hallway.  After she finished, she brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  She stated the water pressure has been fine all day, but I took a moment to check the valves before beginning my shift.  There is a slight drip from the (rusty) bolt area of the main shut off and I have made Mossy aware of that.  Culligan is scheduled to come Monday morning.  After that I set the table, took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order, and began cooking.  Doctor stated he wanted a light dinner, and they were seated and eating by 6:00.

7:00-9:00     Rose and Dr. Vesper both ate well, but he did not eat as much as usual.  He stated he felt fine, just not as hungry as he thought.  Rose enjoyed her dessert immediately following her meal, but he deferred his until later.  They both returned to the living room as I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Mossy stopped by briefly to drop off some edible goodies from a party she attended.  I gave them both their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  We followed our usual routine beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing her teeth.  She allowed a thorough brushing, but I was unable to floss as well as the previous evening.  I changed her wet Depends , and while on the commode, she produced a large bowel movement which took some time to complete.  She seemed quite fatigued and nearly asleep before she was finished.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying goodnight. Dr. Vesper was still in the living room reading when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose was napping in her chair in the living room and Dr. Vesper at church.  Crystal was finishing her blog and getting some updates from Mossy.   There have been some problems with the household water pressure since the repairs to the water softening unit.  Crystal brought me up to speed on everything before leaving.  I then contacted Mossy who had been in touch with the tech from Culligan.  She walked me through some valve adjustments which has hopefully remedied the problem.  The tech is scheduled to return Monday morning to recheck all.  Rose slept soundly while I completed this task, set the table, and began prepping for dinner.  She awakened as I was making the salad and joined me in the kitchen.  I  asked her to help me with the salad spinner.  Her initial response was, “I can’t,”  but she actually began laughing when I put her hand on the knob and helped her spin the lid.  She did a fine job!  Dr. Vesper arrived home just as dinner was finished and they were seated and eating by 6:30.

7:00-9:00     Dr. Vesper enjoyed his usual hearty appetite, but the going was slow with Rose.  Based on my conversation with Crystal, I thought her appetite would be greater, but she was in her “chipmunking” mode tonight.  I had to encourage her to chew several times, but she ultimately ate well overall.  After dinner they returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Rose again napped deeply until it was time to get ready for bed.   I then gave them both their evening medications, and took Rose for her night time toilette.  She was rigid while changing her, but generally things ran in routine fashion.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth.  She allowed me great access and I was able to be extremely thorough.  While on the commode she had a moderately large BM which took her a while to complete.  Once in bed, she seemed quite comfortable and I applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper was on his way to bed, but backtracked to the dining room to check his glucose levels after I reminded him.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes, peas, wild rice (Dr. Vesper)  potatoes (Rose), and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Doctor had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were in the living room relaxing, and Rhonda finishing her blog.  She spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  I then checked/touched up the bathroom, set the table, took Doctor’s dinner order, and began cooking.  Kemper seemed excited about the light, swirling snow, and asked to go out several times.  Rose dozed lightly as he pranced around her.  Once it was time to eat, she and Dr. Vesper both enjoyed hearty appetites.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave Rose, Dr. Vesper, and Hillary their evening medications before taking Rose for her night time toilette.  She was alert, focused, chatty, and less rigid while I changed her clothes.  We  followed our usual routine beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing her teeth.  Though still very calm in her demeanor, she was again bruxing and very tight lipped making access difficult.  I got her on the lift and changed her saturated Depends.  Once on the commode, she passed a lot of gas and produced a large bowel movement.  Clean up was a snap, and once we were finished, she offered a heart felt, “Thank you!!”  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was in the living room getting ready to use his glucose monitor when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Chicken cordon bleu, glazed carrots, wild rice, corn bread toaster rounds, and jello salad.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

Sunday, March 12, 2017

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were in the living room, and Crystal at the table finishing her blog.  As always, she brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  Rose napped lightly and Dr. Vesper finished his library book as I prepared a few bathroom items, set the table, and began dinner prep.  Doctor stated he was hungry and requested a very simple supper.  He and Rose were seated and eating before 6:00 with both enjoying hearty appetites.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran smoothly as well.  Rose was quiet throughout the meal.  After dinner, she and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room and enjoyed a few reruns of an old favorite, “Two and a half Men.”  I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications (including Hillary),  then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  Though alert, she was less focused and more rigid than the previous evening. I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed a few of her teeth.  She was bruxing furiously, and would not allow me the access that I can usually gain.  While on the lift, I removed her damp Depends, and while seated, she produced a small bowel movement with lots of gas.  Once finished, I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  She seemed quite relaxed as I said good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was on his way to bed when I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Rose had vegetable soup, grilled ham and cheese, jello salad, and kefir milk.  Dr. Vesper had tomato soup, grilled cheese, and diet cherry 7 up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.
