5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Mossy and Rose had just finished in the bathroom, and Dr. Vesper relaxing on the living room couch.  Mossy spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed before leaving.  She had everything prepped and ready to cook for dinner making the first part of my shift a breeze.  I waited a few minutes before cooking per Dr. Vespers’ request, and they were seated and by 6:00.  They both had hearty appetites and we enjoyed lively conversation with Rose chuckling frequently.  Rose ate 100% of her meal, but Dr. Vesper was unable to finish his entrée.  I think he ate too much fruit before the main course was served.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room and the remainder of my shift ran in routine fashion.  I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime I gave them their evening medications before taking Rose for her night time toilette.  She was less rigid than in the past as I changed her clothes.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth.  She allowed a thorough brushing, and I was able to floss about 75% of her teeth.  Once on the commode she produced a large bowel movement which started in her Depends.  Her relief was audible and she quickly wilted leaning severely to her left.  As always, she was a trooper during clean up, making it a snap for me.  I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper also received his eye drops throughout my shift at the appropriate intervals.  He was still watching TV when I said good night to him.  I reminded him twice to use his glucose monitor.  I think he was deferring it as long as possible as the results are better.

Dinner:     Fruit salad (watermelon and cantaloupe), baked tilapia with lemon pepper and rosemary, wild rice, peas, and rolls.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  Rose had ice cream, but Dr. Vesper decline dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were in the living room relaxing.  Jan spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  I touched up the bathroom, set the table, took Doctor’s dinner order, administered his eye drops (throughout my shift per instruction), and began cooking.  Rose dozed lightly at this time, but was awake when dinner was served.  She was quiet while eating, seemingly in her “pensive” mode.  They both ate well with Rose finishing nearly all of her meal.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift was nearly a carbon copy of the previous evening.  Rose and Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications (including Hillary’s last dose of Clavamox), then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was rigid as I changed her clothes, but very pleasant and chatty.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (about 75%) of her teeth.  Once on the lift, I removed her Depends, which was saturated through the seat of her pants.  While on the commode, Rose produced a moderately large bowel movement.  After we finished, I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper was already in bed saying his rosary, but got back up to brush his teeth.  He promised he would use his glucose monitor and asked that I leave the lights on as a reminder.

Dinner:     Salad, stuffed chicken breasts (broccoli with cheese for Dr. Vesper and cordon bleu for Rose), peas, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Doctor had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream for dessert.

Note to Mossy:     Dr. Vesper was wondering if he could use his glucose monitor before dinner on the scheduled evenings.  He said he doesn’t always want to eat so early, but is often unable stay up long enough to allow the necessary amount of time following a meal/dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room as Mona finished her blog.  She spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  After chatting with Rose and Dr. Vesper, I cleaned Hillary’s litter box, touched up the other bathroom, set the table, and began prepping for dinner.  I also administered Dr. Vesper’s eye drops and continued throughout my shift.  Rose and Doctor both said they were hungry, and I had them seated and eating shortly after 6:00.  Rose was quiet, but ate well, finishing nearly all of her meal.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications (including Hillary), then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was rigid while changing her clothes, but relaxed as we settled into the rest of our routine.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (partial) her teeth.  She became quite bright and chatty as I got her in the lift, then onto the commode.  She urinated and produced a large bowel movement.  After clean up, I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper was on his way to bed as well and I said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, baked salmon with lemon pepper and rosemary, peas, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived,  Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room and Michele in the kitchen area.  This was the first we met, so we spent a few minutes exchanging pleasantries and going over the events of the day.  I performed a few small tasks around the house including touching up the bathroom and cleaning Hillary’s litter box.  I applied Dr. Vesper’s eye drops (throughout my shift) per dosing instructions.  Just as I was setting the table for dinner, Stephanie called to invite her father to meet at Front Street Café.  Her timing was perfect, and he was eager to join them.  Rose was awake, but very unfocused during the early part of my shift.  She perked up quite a bit during dinner and ate well, completing 100% of her meal.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose accompanied me in the kitchen while I washed the dishes, cleaned the microwave, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave her and Hillary their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was extremely rigid and seemed anxious as I changed her clothes, but settled down as we began the rest of our routine.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth.  She allowed a thorough brushing, but flossing was minimal.  Once I got her on the commode, she was very relaxed as I changed her damp Depends.  There was a trace of stool, as well.  Clean up was a snap, but she was fading fast, so I got her to bed quickly.  I applied her eye drops and she seemed to be sleeping before I said good night.  Dr. Vesper arrived just as I finished with Rose.  We chatted briefly about his evening and I made sure he took his medications.  He stated he was not going to use his glucose monitor as he was tired and did not want to wait the required amount of time after a meal needed to get an accurate reading.

Dinner:     Rose had a salad, turkey tetrazzini, and kefir milk.  She had ice cream for dessert.  Dr. Vesper said he had a steak, but did not elaborate on the rest of the meal.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Jan spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  I chatted with Doctor for a few minutes about his medical appointment and questioned him about his vision.  He said he had a very brief episode (less than 20 seconds) while at the facility, but none since.  He reported no vision loss to me the rest of my shift.  I then took his dinner order, touched up the bathroom and completed a few other small chores, set the table, and began cooking.  Rose napped lightly until dinner was served.

7:00-9:00     Rose and Dr. Vesper both ate well with Rose completing 100% of her meal.  She continued to remain quiet, but very alert.  After dinner, they returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose for her night time toilette.  She was very rigid and appeared somewhat anxious while changing her, but otherwise, things ran in routine fashion.  I washed her face and hands, then thoroughly brushed her teeth.   Flossing was “hit/miss” as she became very tight lipped.  Once on the commode, she urinated and passed a lot of gas, but no stool.  Any anxiety dissipated rapidly, and she appeared very relaxed.  Once back to her room, she became quite chatty.  Unfortunately, I was unable to understand to whom/what she was referring, but at one point she said, “Oh, you, know…old what’s her face!”  We both enjoyed a good laugh over that!  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying good night.  She was still awake, but quiet when I left.  Dr. Vesper was still watching TV when I said good night to him.  He promised he would use his glucose monitor at the designated time.

Dinner:     Salad, baked salmon, glazed carrots, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

Note:     I asked Jan if she noticed Kemper limping, but she did not.  I noticed him limping once tonight when he first got up from a prone position, but none after that.

5:00-9:00     When I arrived, Crystal and Rose were just coming out of the bathroom and Dr. Vesper off to Lily’s graduation ceremony.  Crystal and I chatted about the events of the day and said our goodbyes.  After she left and while I was tending to Rose, I noticed a bruise on the outer corner of Rose’s left eye.  There is no break in the skin or swelling.  I did contact Crystal and she said it was there when she got Rose up this morning.  I then spent a few minutes doing small chores around the house including stocking and touching up the bathroom, putting away dishes in the dish drainer, taking out the trash, and checking inventory for Mossy.  Rose was quiet, but alert during this time.  At dinner time she enjoyed a simple meal of leftovers.  She ate slowly, but very well.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I ran the sweeper in the kitchen, dining, and living room areas as the late, strong sunlight made the hair and outdoor debris that had accumulated through the afternoon more evident.  I also noticed that Kemper appeared to be limping when he asked to go out for the last time.  Once he got moving, he seemed to improve, but I did notify Mossy of this.  I could not locate an obvious injury.  At bedtime I gave Rose her evening medication, then took her back for her night time toilette.  She was very rigid while changing her clothes, but all else ran in routine fashion.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth.  She allowed me great access for a thorough brushing, but only minimal flossing.  Once on the lift, I removed her damp Depends, and she produced a moderate bowel movement while seated.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying goodnight.  I could hear her snoring deeply within a few minutes while I was waiting in the living room for Dr. Vesper to come home.  Once he arrived, we chatted about the graduation for a few minutes, I made sure he took his evening medication, then said goodnight to him.

Dinner:     Spaghetti with marinara, green beans, corn bread toaster rounds, kefir milk, and ice cream for dessert.

Visitors:     Sandy (just leaving after mowing) and Stephanie (dropping off Dr. Vesper).

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Mossy were in the kitchen prepping the dinner salads while Dr. Vesper was relaxing in the living room.  Because she had many of my tasks completed, Mossy and I had a few minutes to chat about the events of the week, Dr. Vesper’s upcoming appointments, medication changes, and how to address any potential emergency.  After she left, I finished cooking dinner while Dr. tended to the bird feeders.  Rose was quiet, but alert, and observed quietly while I worked.  When it was time to eat, she and Doctor both ate well with Rose finishing 100% of her meal.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I checked with Doctor frequently, and he reported no vision problems.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth.  She was tight lipped, allowing me to floss only about half of them.  Once on the lift, I removed her Depends which was saturated through her pants.  Once on the commode she produced a large bowel movement.  Though she never appeared uncomfortable, she faded fast and became completely limp after that.  Clean up was a snap, I got her to bed, and applied her eye drops easily.  She puckered for a kiss as I said good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was still watching TV when I said good night to him.  He had a few minutes before it was time to use his glucose monitor.  Mossy related that he had some difficulty with it recently.  After clocking out, I offered to stay for a bit in case it “malfunctioned”, but he declined my assistance.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes, peas, and corn bread toaster rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.
