5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Doctor was reading and watching TV while Rose dozed lightly.  Michele and I chatted for a few minutes before she left for the day.  She was concerned that Rose was feverish earlier, but I saw no evidence of that during my shift.   It was a quiet afternoon as I cleaned the microwave oven, set the table, and prepped the salads for dinner.  The house and bathroom were in great shape and I began cooking dinner.  Prior to eating, I checked Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level which registered 84.  He and Rose both enjoyed hearty appetites, though they both ate slowly.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was quite rigid as I changed her clothes.  We followed our usual routine beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing her teeth (about half).  I changed her Depends which was just damp, and she passed a lot of gas while seated.  She produced no bowel movement.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper was still watching TV in the living room when I finished with Rose.  He was not in a big hurry to get to bed, but I told him I would not leave until he was safely tucked in.  We enjoyed a few minutes of football together when he decided it was time to retire.  Once he finished his routine and was in bed (unassisted), I said good night, set the alarm, and locked up.

Dinner:     Salad, baked lemon pepper salmon, rice, peas, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  I spent a few minutes chatting with Jan as she brought me up to speed on the day’s events.  After she left, I touched up the bathroom, took Doctor’s dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  Before eating, I checked Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level, which was 93.  He and Rose both enjoyed hearty appetites, with Rose actually eating more than I expected!

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room to watch TV, but Rose hung out with me in the kitchen while I cleaned the microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was extremely rigid while changing her clothes, but relaxed somewhat as we got further into our usual routine.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (90%) her teeth.  She had a small  stool in her Depends and completed another small bowel movement while seated.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying good night.  Andrew arrived while we were in the bathroom, and Stephanie came shortly after.  There was some misunderstanding as to who was coming so they both decided to stay!  They were with Dr. Vesper in the living room when I said good bye to them.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken cordon bleu, glazed carrots, mixed rice and peas, and toaster corn bread rounds.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

Note:     I hope each of you enjoy a blessed Thanksgiving!  We have a lot for which to be thankful and I am fortunate to have each of you in my life.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were in the living room watching the Bengals.  Caregiver Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  Dr. Vesper stated he was hungry, so I took his dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  Though he was eager to eat, I managed to get his blood glucose level prior to his first bite, which was 67.  He and Rose both enjoyed healthy appetites, completing 100% of their meals.  Other than a brief phone call from Jennifer, the remainder of my shift was very quiet.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room.  I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was extremely rigid as I changed her clothes, but relaxed as we got further into our routine.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (anterior only) her teeth.  She had a large bowel movement started in her Depends and completed while on the commode.  She became somewhat chatty during cleanup and tolerated it well.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper was making his way down the hall to the bathroom as I said good night to her.  Andrew arrived at this time as well and I filled him in before saying good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, lemon pepper tilapia, glazed carrots, rice, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Michele filled me in on the day’s events before she left.  While Dr. Vesper watched TV and Rose napped, I set the table, prepped the dinner salad, and began cooking.  It was a quiet, dreary day, and my shift ran in routine fashion.  I checked Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level before he came to the table, and it registered 84.  Once he and Rose were seated and eating, they both enjoyed hearty appetites.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications before taking Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was very rigid as I changed her clothes, but seemed to relax as we continued our routine.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (90%) her teeth.  I removed her wet Depends and she produced a large bowel movement while seated.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  She seemed very comfortable when I said good night to her.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper for a while until Stephanie arrived to relieve me.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes, wild rice, peas, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

4:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Jan spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  The occupational therapist, Sarah, arrived a few minutes later to tend to some of Dr. Vesper’s personal needs including help with his shower and a shave.  She also obtained his blood pressure reading which was 119/84.  While they were busy I set the table, restocked a few kitchen items, and tended to Rose.  I did offer her some water, which she drank readily (about 8 ounces).  When the bathroom was available, I took Rose for her afternoon toileting.  She was very rigid at this time, but sat upright on the commode.  Her Depends were wet and she produced a moderate bowel movement (started in her Depends).   After Sarah left, I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order and began cooking.  He stated he was hungry, but wanted a simple meal.  Prior to coming to the table, I checked Doctor’s blood glucose level which was 92.  I asked him if he might like to use the bathroom before dinner, but he declined.  As is her way, Mother Nature called the moment he was seated at the dining room table.  I kept a close eye on him, but he was able to navigate to the bathroom on his own quite well.  His sister Mary called just as he finished and they enjoyed a conversation while I fed Rose.  Dr. Vesper caught up quickly and they finished dinner about the same time.  They both enjoyed hearty appetites.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (75%) her teeth.  She seemed more relaxed tonight as I changed her wet Depends.  She produced another (smaller) bowel movement, again stared in her Depends.  Clean up was a snap and I got her to bed easily.  I applied her eye drops and said good night to her.  Andrew arrived shortly before, but was on a personal phone call, so I didn’t have a chance to chat with him.  Dr. Vesper was still watching TV in the living room and declined my offer to assist him to bed.  He stated he wanted to stay up for a bit.

Dinner:     Salad, soup, and grilled cheese sandwiches.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose was with Mossy in the kitchen area, and Dr. Vesper working with Alex, the physical therapist.  Mossy and Rose had the table set for me and a scrumptious looking meatloaf cooking in the oven.  Mossy brought me up to speed on things while I began prepping the salad.  Once everyone was gone, dinner came together quickly and I had Rose and Doctor seated and eating shortly after 6:00.  I did check Doctor’s glucose level prior to eating.  The value was 108.

7:00-9:00     Rose and Dr. Vesper both ate well tonight.  They returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose for her night time toilette.  As always, we followed our usual routine beginning with washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing (about 75%) her teeth.  While on the commode I removed her saturated Depends which was wet through her pants.  She passed a lot of gas and produced a large bowel movement which started in her Depends.  Clean up is always a bit tedious when this happens, but Rose tolerates it without complaint.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  She seemed very relaxed and comfortable when I said good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was making his way down the hall and Andrew arrived at this time as well.  I said goodnight to both of them at this time.

Dinner:     Salad, meatloaf, green beans, and corn bread toaster rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream for dessert (Lactaid).

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose was with Stephanie in the living room and Dr. Vesper in the bathroom.  As we waited for him, she brought me up to speed on the day’s events.  Both he and Rose had a good day.  After Stephanie left, I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  Before coming to the table, I checked Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level which was 100.  I had them seated and eating shortly after 6:00pm.  They both enjoyed hearty appetites.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  Rose and Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  While changing her clothes, I noticed two small bruises on her right shoulder.  I did not have occasion to change her shirt the evening before (she was already in her pajama top when I arrived), so I am unsure when they happened.  There is no abrasion and she does not appear to have any discomfort.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (half) her teeth.  She was more rigid and tight lipped tonight.  When I got her on the commode, I removed her Depends, which was saturated through her pants.  She urinated and had a large bowel movement (started in her Depends).  She seemed quite relaxed and relieved after toileting.  She tolerated clean up well and I got her to bed easily.  I applied her eye drops and said good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was making his way down the hall to the bathroom and Andrew arrived at this time as well.  I chatted with him for a few minutes, then said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, baked salmon, peas, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.
