5:00-7:00     Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room when I arrived.  Caregiver Stephanie and I chatted for a few minutes before she left.  I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.   Prior to serving, I checked Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level which was 102.  Though the going was slow for Rose, they both enjoyed hearty appetites.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and minimally flossed her teeth.  She had a small bowel movement started in her Depends and completed while on the commode.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I waited while Dr. Vesper did his night time routine before saying good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken cacciatore, glazed carrots, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room napping and watching TV.  Michele spent a moment bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  It was a quiet, routine afternoon as I took Doctor’s dinner order, set the table and began cooking.  Rose was awake by the time dinner was ready and they both enjoyed hearty appetites.  I did not obtain Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose value as I had  the mistaken impression it was only being done prior to breakfast.  I will be sure to get that value tomorrow evening.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleared the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I noticed the dishwasher was nearly full of dirty dishes, so I finished loading and ran it.  I gave them both their evening medications then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (50%) her teeth.  I changed her toothbrush head as I noticed the current one was spent and caked with some kind of debris.  Once on the lift I removed Rose’s Depends which was filled with loose stool.  She produced nothing more while seated.  As always, she was very patient with me during a somewhat tedious cleanup.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper was still watching TV and seemed a bit reluctant to get ready for bed.  He finally agreed when he realized I was not going to leave until I was sure he was safely tucked in.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes, peas, wild rice, and corn bread toaster rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  Rose had a slice of Christmas torte for dessert and Dr. Vesper had ice cream (Lactaid).

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose was in the living room  and Dr. Vesper in the bathroom.  Lucy brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  Dr. Vesper and I chatted about his aqua therapy while Rose napped.  I took his dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  Prior to his first bite I did a blood glucose check.  The value had improved to 105.  He and Rose both ate well, though it took Rose a while to complete her meal.  She was more alert tonight, just not as hungry.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications before taking Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She exhibited far less rigidity as I changed her clothes.  I did note a nickel sized abrasion on her right elbow.  I am unsure when this happened, but she does not seem bothered by it.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (50%) her teeth.  Once on the commode I changed her barely damp Depends.  She urinated and passed a marble sized stool.  Just as we finished, Dr. Vesper came down the hall to do his own night time routine.  I got Rose to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper came into the bedroom and assured me he could change and get into bed on his own.  I said good night to them both, but hung around outside the door for a few minutes till I was sure all was well.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken cordon bleu, glazed carrots, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

Note to Mossy:     I considered giving Rose milk of magnesia as she has not had a significant bowel movement this weekend.  However, she appears to be “close”, so I thought I’d let you be the judge.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was watching TV and Rose napping in her wheelchair.  Caregiver Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper for a few minutes, took his dinner order, and set the table.  Before I began cooking, Stephanie, the girls, and Mary Lou stopped by for a brief surprise visit.  After they left I started dinner and had Rose and Doctor at the table by 6:15.  Prior to eating, I checked Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level.  Compared to previous readings it was elevated at 142, but did not require insulin.  He had a good appetite and ate well.  The going was more slow with Rose.  She was sleepy and unfocused and I had to encourage her to chew several times.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, they returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She remained unfocused with her eyes nearly closed while I put on her pajamas.  However, she was much less rigid during our routine.  I washed her face and ands, then brushed and flossed (75%) her teeth.  I changed her wet Depends and she urinated while seated.  She did not have a bowel movement tonight.  Just as we finished, Dr. Vesper came to the bathroom to complete his routine.  While he did that I got Rose into bed and applied her eye drops easily.  He finished around the same time and I got them both tucked in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, lemon pepper salmon, rice, peas, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Michele brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper for a few minutes, took his dinner order, set the table and began cooking.  Rose slept soundly until it was time to eat.  Before serving, I checked Doctor’s blood glucose level which was 97.  He ate well, but chose smaller portions than usual.  Rose enjoyed a hearty appetite.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift continued in quiet, routine fashion.  I cleaned the kitchen and microwave oven, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was quite rigid as I changed her clothes.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth (about half).  Fortunately she allowed a thorough brushing as her gingiva are fairly inflamed.  Before getting her on the lift, I heard Dr. Vesper coming down the hall, so Rose and I moved out of the way to allow him to room complete his own routine.  He was able to do this and get himself to bed unassisted.  Rose and I returned to the bathroom where I changed her wet Depends which held a trace of stool.  While on the commode she urinated, but had no further bowel movement.  She seemed very fatigued and leaned severely to the left immediately.  When we were finished I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, and wild rice.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room watching TV while Lucy and Rose were in the hallway having just finished Rose’s 4:30 toileting.  Lucy and I spent a few minutes catching up before she left for the day.  I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  Rose was quiet and napped lightly during the first half of my shift.  Jennifer called around this time and Doctor enjoyed a nice conversation with her.   Before they ate, I did a blood glucose check on Dr. Vesper.  The meter measured 101.  Once at the table, they both ate well.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in routine fashion.  I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, took out trash, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was rigid as I changed her clothing and moaned occasionally.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth (about half).  I got her on the lift and removed her wet Depends.  Her abdomen was somewhat distended as she has not had a bowel movement in 3 days.  She passed a lot of gas while on the commode, but no stool.  When we were finished, I gave her a full dose of milk of magnesia, then got her to bed.  I applied her eye drops easily before saying good night to her.  Dr. Vesper was not in a hurry to get to bed, so I enjoyed a few minutes watching MNF with him.  When there was a commercial break I encouraged him to complete his night time routine and watch the remainder of the game while in bed.  Once he was there, I said good night and locked up.

Dinner:     Salad, meatloaf, glazed carrots, corn bread toaster rounds, and rice.  I reminded Dr. Vesper that this was the third night in a row for rice, but he stated it was his preference when I offered other choices.  Rose drank kefir milk and Doctor had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were in the living room relaxing.  Caregiver Stephanie greeted me and brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  Dr. Vesper stated he was hungry, so I took his dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  Rose slept soundly in her chair until it was time to eat.  Before he started his meal, I attempted to measure Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose, but the meter threw an error code (E-4).  He did not want me to try again, stating his previous numbers “have been very good”.  Though the going was slow, he and Rose both seemed to enjoy hearty appetites and ate well.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the kitchen and Rose accompanied me in the kitchen as I cleaned up, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  She was sleepy through dinner and continued to drift off the remainder of my shift.  I gave them both their evening medications before taking Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was extremely rigid while changing her clothes and leaned to her left severely.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth.  We broke our routinely briefly to allow Dr. Vesper a moment to use the bathroom.  Once back in the bathroom, I got Rose on the lift and changed her Depends, which were saturated through her pants.  While on the commode she urinated and passed a lot of gas, but still no bowel movement.  Stephanie arrived around this time to say a brief hello and drop off some leftovers for Rose and Doctor to enjoy for dinner tomorrow night.  Once Rose was finished, I got her in bed and applied her eye drops easily before saying good night.  I waited while Dr. Vesper got himself to bed before saying good night to him as well.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes. rice, peas, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.
