5:00-7:00     When I arrived Rose and Dr. Vesper were napping/watching TV in the living room.  Michele and I chatted about the day’s events before she left.  It was a dreary, rainy afternoon as I set the table, took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order and began cooking.  Rose slept soundly till dinner was ready, but was more focused and somewhat chatty while eating.  I checked Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to his first bite, 89.  They both ate well and seemed to enjoy hearty appetites.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Rose once again became heavy lidded and drifted back off to sleep.  I had to wake her as I gave them both their night time medications.  While Dr. Vesper watched the winter Olympics, I took Rose to the bathroom for her evening toilette.  She was less rigid  and more chatty than usual as I changed her clothes.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (most) her teeth.  I changed her Depends and she urinated only while on the commode.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I waited while Dr. Vesper got ready for bed, then said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken breasts, peas, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room and Rose with Mossy in the kitchen area.  Mossy was kind enough to have done my dinner prep work including setting the table and making the salads.  She brought me up to speed on things before leaving for the day.  Dr. Vesper requested a simple supper, which I had on the table quickly.  He and Rose both enjoyed hearty appetites.  Prior to Doctor’s first bite, I measured his blood glucose level, which was 90.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time routine.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (75%) her teeth.  Once on the lift, I removed her Depends which were saturated through her pants.  There was also a small stool and she produced another small BM while seated.  I did note a fairly copious thin milky white vaginal discharge during clean up.  I did not notice any particular odor associated with it.  I reported my finding to Mossy via text so she could follow up.  When we were finished, I took Rose to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I waited while Dr. Vesper performed his night time routine, then said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, soup, and grilled ham/cheese sandwiches.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had cherry pie a la mode (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Caregiver Stephanie spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  Rose was quiet, but awake,  as I set the table, prepped the salad, and began cooking dinner.  She and Dr. Vesper both ate well.  Doctor’s blood glucose level before dinner was 95.  Kemper seemed to be back to normal, hanging around the table waiting for a crumb to fall.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift continued in quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications before taking Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was rigid as I changed her clothes, but more focused and chatty than the night before.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and (minimally) flossed her teeth.  Just as I was readying the lift, I heard Dr. Vesper coming down the hall, so we vacated the bathroom to allow him to perform his night time routine.  After he finished, he went to bed while Rose and I completed her toileting.  I got her on the lift, removed her wet Depends, and she had a small bowel movement while seated.  After clean up, I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Once they were both tucked in I said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, baked lemon pepper salmon, glazed carrots, couscous, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  For dessert, Rose had cherry pie and Dr. Vesper had ice cream (Lactaid).

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing/napping in the living room.  As always, Michele brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  It was a rainy, quiet start to my shift which continued throughout the evening.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper, took his dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  Rose slept soundly until it was time to eat.  She and Dr. Vesper both ate well, though Rose leaned heavily to her left requiring me to prop her up.  I checked Doctor’s blood glucose level prior to eating, which was 97.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of the evening ran in routine fashion.  After dinner Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications before taking Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth.  She was rigid as I changed her clothes and continued to list heavily to her left and forward, making this somewhat of a challenge.  However, once she was on the commode, she sat upright.  I removed her wet Depends which had soaked through enough to dampen her pants.  She had a moderate, normal bowel movement while seated.  After clean up I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper made his way to bed shortly after.  I waited until he was finished with his routine, then said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, wild rice, peas, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room watching TV and Rose in the bathroom with Lucy.  Due to inclement weather, I was there early.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper, brought him a cup of decaf coffee,  and began right away to prepare for the evening shift.  When Lucy and Rose came out of the bathroom, Lucy updated me on the day’s events.  She had some concern that Rose had cold like symptoms (coughing and sneezing), but I saw none of that on my shift.   When she left, I was prepared to start dinner immediately after clocking in at 5:00.  Rose and Doctor both ate well, though the going was somewhat slow.  Prior to eating, I checked Doctor’s blood glucose level which was 166.  Insulin was indicated, but he refused.  He stated, “it always goes back down.”

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in routine fashion.  I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications before taking Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (minimally) her teeth.  Once on the commode she urinated and had a large, but normal bowel movement which had started in her Depends.  Always the trooper, she made clean up easy for me.  Dr. Vesper was making his way down the hall just as Rose and I finished.  He completed his routine as I got Rose into bed.  I applied her eye drops, made sure they were both tucked in, and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken breasts, peas and carrots, garlic bread (which Doctor declined after glucose check), and jello salad.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose was napping in the living room and Dr. Vesper making his way to the bathroom.  Caregiver Stephanie spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  Jennifer called and while she and Doctor chatted, I set the table and began prepping the salad for dinner.  When he finished his conversation, I took his order and started cooking.  When it was ready, he elected to wait a few minutes before coming to the table.  With his permission, I seated Rose and began feeding her.  Because of our head start, they finished at the same time and both enjoyed hearty appetites.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level before eating was 111.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then thoroughly brushed her teeth.  Flossing tonight was minimal as she was very tight lipped.  She was also extremely rigid as I changed her clothes, but relaxed significantly once on the commode.  She had a trace of stool in her Depends, but produced nothing more while seated.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I waited while Dr. Vesper completed his night time routine before saying goodnight to him.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, wild rice, peas, and corn bread toaster rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room napping and watching TV.  Mossy and I spent a few minutes going over the day’s events before she left.  As Rose slept soundly, I took Doctor’s dinner order (he agreed to using up the leftovers), set the table, and began cooking.  Once dinner was ready, I got them both to the table and obtained Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level (106) before his first bite.  Though she was awake, Rose still seemed very fatigued and ate slowly initially.  Ultimately they both ate very well.  Around this time Lily and Sophie stopped by for a brief visit and to return Dr. Vesper’s car.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  As I gave them their evening medications I suddenly realized that I never did take Rose to the bathroom!  She seemed comfortable, but I hurried to get her to the bathroom early for her evening toilette.  Her seat was dry so I followed our usual routine starting with washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing (50%) her teeth.  I asked Dr. Vesper before taking her back if he would like to use the bathroom first, but he declined.  However, I heard him padding down the hallway, so Rose and I vacated the bathroom before getting her on the commode.  He seemed to take longer than usual, but that might have been due to my concern for not getting Rose toileted in a timely fashion.  Once it was Rose’s turn, I removed her Depends and it was no wetter than usual.  While seated she produced an extremely large bowel movement which took a long while to complete.  As always, she tolerated clean up like a trooper.  Once I got her to bed, I applied her eye drops easily, tucked them both in, and said good night.

Dinner:     A smorgasbord of leftovers including salad, stuffed chicken breast, chicken cacciatore, rice and peas, glazed carrots, pasta, garlic bread, and corn bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

Note to Mossy:     So sorry to you and Rose that I muffed a simple request!
