5:00-7:00:     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Michele brought me up to speed on the day’s events.  She had also prepped the entire dinner and had the entrée in the oven cooking.  This made an easy start to my shift which I highly appreciated!  After she left, I set the table,  added a couple of other items to the menu, and served dinner.  Getting an early start was particularly helpful as the going was very slow for Rose.  She was unfocused and had a runny nose.  There was no fever which led me to believe her allergies were bothering her.  She completed most, but not all, of her meal.  Dr. Vesper enjoyed his usual hearty appetite.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 96.

7:00-9:00:     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, the brushed and flossed her teeth.  She allowed me to be very thorough with her oral hygiene.  Once on the commode, I changed her damp Depends and she produced a large bowel movement which took a while to complete.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I waited while Dr. Vesper finished his night time routine, then said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken cordon bleu, asparagus, green beans, mashed potatoes, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  I chatted with Lucy about the day’s events before she left.  I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  With the exception of numerous recorded political calls coming in, it was a very quiet start to my shift with Rose sleeping soundly.  When it was time to eat, it required lots of prompting to get Rose to stay awake and chew.  Ultimately, she and Dr. Vesper both ate well completing their entire meals.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to eating was 99.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Around this time, Doctor received a call from Jennifer and enjoyed a conversation with her.  I  gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  Rose seemed more bright and focused as I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (all) her teeth.  I changed her Depends and she remained in a more upright position while on the commode.  She passed some gas, but no bowel movement.  When we were finished, I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I waited while Dr. Vesper performed his night time routine, then said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Fresh cantaloupe chunks, grilled cheese (ham for RV), and tomato soup.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room watching TV and Rose in the bathroom with Caregiver Stephanie.  We spent a few minutes going over the day’s events before she left.  The table was already set, so I took a moment to ready the bathroom for Rose’s night time routine, then began cooking dinner.  Rose and Doctor both ate well, but the going was quite slow for Rose.  She was unfocused, requiring several prompts to chew her food.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed her teeth.  She again allowed me enough access to floss about half of them; I made the effort to reach the areas I couldn’t the night before.  It was somewhat challenging getting Rose in the lift and onto the commode tonight.  Her leaning was severe and she tried to reach a reclining position while being lowered, making it difficult to get her positioned on the commode.  She seemed extremely fatigued, but we made it safely.  I changed her Depends and she urinated only while seated.  She also passed a lot of gas, but no stool.  When we were finished, I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper finished his routine shortly after and I said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken breast (LJV) and cranberry/stuffing stuffed turkey breast (RV), wild rice, peas, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were in the living room just finishing a visit with Stephanie.  While they said good bye, Michele spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events.  She had also done a lot of dinner prep making it an easy start to my shift.  After they left, I began cooking.  Rose and Dr. Vesper both enjoyed hearty appetites.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to his first bite was 88.  While we were eating, we made certain the TV was tuned to the “greatest two minutes in sports”, the Kentucky Derby.  I very much enjoyed talking with Dr. Vesper about the horses and even Rose seemed to perk up during our chatter and the bugler’s call to post.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  At bedtime I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  We followed our usual routine.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (about half) her teeth.  I changed her damp Depends and she produced no urine or stool while on the commode.  I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper completed his routine and came to bed immediately after.  I said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes, peas, wild rice, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room watching TV and Rose in the bathroom with Lucy.  When they were finished, Lucy filled me in on the day’s events.  After she left, I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  Around this time, Jessica called to chat with her father.  He seemed to have a hard time hearing her, but enjoyed their conversation.   When dinner was ready, but before eating, I checked Doctor’s blood glucose level which was 96.  He and Rose both ate well.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was extremely rigid as I changed her clothes.  I washed her face and hands.  I also gently bathed the wound on her shoulder and applied triple antibiotic cream.  Though no worse, it still appears quite angry and I sent an image to Mossy so she could consult with Rose’s doctor early tomorrow.  I then brushed Roses’s teeth, but she again allowed no flossing.  Once on the lift I removed her barely damp Depends.  She urinated and passed some gas while seated, but no bowel movement.  I applied ointment to the spot on her bottom which appears to be healing well.  When we were finished, I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  As I was getting her in bed, Dr. Vesper performed his night time routine and came to the bedroom just as I was tucking in Rose.  At that time I said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes, peas, wild rice, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Caregiver Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events and expressed concern over Rose’s lack of urine output.  After she left, I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order and began cooking.  Rose napped lightly at this time.  When dinner was served, they both ate well and seemed to enjoy hearty appetites.

7:00-9:00     After dinner Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  Though still somewhat rigid, she was less resistant as I changed her clothes.  I followed our usual routine beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing her teeth.  She allowed no flossing tonight.  Once on the lift I removed her saturated Depends and she urinated while seated.  She passed a lot of gas, but had no bowel movement.  When she was finished, I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I did apply ointment to both the spot near Rose’s tailbone and on her shoulder.  The area on the tailbone appears to be scabbing over.  The spot on her shoulder was flat and less red today.  I waited while Dr. Vesper went to the bathroom and got himself to bed before saying good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken breasts, couscous, glazed carrots, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Michele brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  She had set the table  and begun prepping for dinner making it an easy start to my shift.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper for a few minutes, touched up the bathroom and readied it for Rose’s night time routine, and began cooking.  Rose and Dr. Vesper both ate well tonight.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to eating was 99.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them both their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was extremely rigid while changing her clothes.  I noted a bright red raised sore spot (approx. 1″ diam) above Rose’s right shoulder blade, which Michele mentioned earlier.  I applied triple antibiotic cream and sent Mossy an image.  It has the appearance of an insect bite rather than a pressure sore, but she will evaluate Tuesday and call Rose’s doctor if it doesn’t improve.   I washed Rose’s face and hands, then brushed and flossed (minimally) her teeth.  I changed her wet Depends and she produced nothing more while seated.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I waited while Dr. Vesper finished his night time routine, then said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, rice, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.
