5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Michele brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  Rose was quiet, but awake when it was time to eat.  Just as we got started, Stephanie arrived to tend to the pool.  She also shared some beautiful photos taken at the graduation party of a friend.  Rose always seems to brighten and remain cheerful after one of her visits.  They both ate well finishing their entire meals.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to eating was 92.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave oven, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands then brushed her teeth.  She was very tight lipped, allowing me access to her anterior teeth only for flossing.  Once on the lift, I changed her wet Depends, and she urinated only while seated.  After we finished, I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper finished his bed time routine and I said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken cordon bleu, glazed carrots, wild rice, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were in the living room napping and watching TV.  Caregiver Stephanie and I chatted briefly about the day’s events before she left.  Dr. Vesper stated he was hungry, so I took his dinner order and began cooking.  Rose slept soundly the entire time, but woke easily when dinner was served.  She and Doctor both enjoyed hearty appetites.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  We followed our usual routine beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing ( about 80%) her teeth.  I removed her Depends which was saturated through the seat of her pants.  She may have urinated a bit while on the commode, but no BM.  I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper was in the bathroom when Stephanie and Charlotte arrived to check the pool pump.  He was ready for bed, so they kept the visit brief.  We all said good night and I locked up behind them.

Dinner:     Salad and chicken pot pies.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

4:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Mossy spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  I fed Kemper, then took Rose to the bathroom for her 4:30 toileting.  Her Depends were wet and contained a trace of stool.  She seemed fatigued and fell asleep almost immediately after I got her into her chair and back to the living room.  I touched up the bathroom, restocked a couple of items, then took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order.  Mossy had set the table, so I was able to start cooking immediately.  When dinner was ready, Rose was awake and ready to eat.  She and Doctor both enjoyed hearty appetites.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to eating was 103.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Prior to giving them their evening medications, I realized Kemper had not asked to go out.  It appears that a day of romping and swimming had gotten the best of him and was sleeping soundly.  He came within a few minutes of being called, but was moving slowly and limping somewhat.  He went outside, did his business, then laid down on the porch.  When I called him in, he went right to bed.  I gave Rose and Doctor their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (about 75%) her teeth.  Her Depends were damp and contained a small stool.  She urinated only while seated.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper used the bathroom twice after dinner and was not in a hurry to get to bed.  I waited till he was ready to complete his night time routine.  Once he was in bed, I said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, wild rice, peas, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Caregiver Stephanie and I chatted for a few minutes about the day’s events before she left.  Stephanie had set the table and prepped the dinner salad for me, so all I had to do was get Doctor’s dinner order and begin cooking.  Rose napped as I cooked, but was wide awake when dinner was served.  Though the going was slow for Rose, she and Dr. Vesper both ate well.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She remained awake and alert the entire evening following dinner.  In fact she was somewhat chatty and chuckled frequently as I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (about 50%) her teeth.  While on the commode she passed a lot of gas and had a large BM, which had started in her Depends.  She tolerated a tedious clean up like a trooper.  Once I got her to bed she seemed very relaxed and I applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper finished his night time routine and came to bed just as I was tucking Rose in.  I said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken cordon bleu, glazed carrots, wild rice, and corn bread toaster rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry  7up.  They both had ice cream for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Michele brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  She had completed much of the dinner prep for me, so there was little to do at the beginning of my shift other than to start cooking.  Rose slept very soundly during this time and was difficult to rouse at when dinner was served.  However, she and Dr. Vesper both ultimately ate well, completing their entire meals.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to eating was 93.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (anterior only) her teeth.    At this point, Dr. Vesper wanted to get ready for bed, so we vacated the bathroom to allow him to complete his night time routine.  When he was safely in bed, I got Rose on the lift and changed her damp Depends.  She produced nothing more while seated.  I got her into bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I tucked her in and said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes, peas, rice, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room watching TV.  Rose was with Lucy in the bathroom completing Rose’s 4:30 toileting.  After she left, I took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  They both ate well, completing their entire meals.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to eating was 88.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift continued in quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was rigid as I changed her clothes and allowed me to brush her teeth only.  Stephanie stopped by for a brief visit at this time and it seemed to impact her demeaner in such positive manner.  While getting her on the lift, then the commode, she was less rigid and more able to sit up right.  She brightened considerably and became fairly chatty.  Stephanie left soon after, but Rose’s mood lasted until I got her to bed.  While on the commode I changed her wet Depends and she urinated while seated.  Once in bed I applied her eye drops easily.  I waited while Dr. Vesper finished his routine, then said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, wild rice, glazed carrots, and garlic bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream for dessert.

3:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room and Rose in the kitchen with Mossy.  Mossy and I spent a few minutes discussing the events of the day as well as sharing tips and ideas on how to best care for Rose and Dr. Vesper.  She was also concerned about a sore on Rose’s lower lip which appeared much worse than it was.  Once the dried blood was removed, only a very small scab remained.  By the end of the day the scab had sloughed, leaving a lightly denuded area to which I applied lip balm.  I took Rose to the living room where she napped, helped Mossy make the bed, fed Kemper, then set the table.  At 4:30 I took Rose to the bathroom for her afternoon toileting.  Her Depends were wet and she produced a moderately large bowel movement while seated.  When we were finished I returned her to the living room, took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order, and began cooking.  They both ate well, though the going was very slow again for Rose.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed her teeth.  She was very tight lipped and allowed no flossing.  She was very fatigued, rigid, and leaned severely while changing her clothes and getting her onto the commode.  I removed her damp Depends and she produced nothing more while seated.  I took her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I waited while Dr. Vesper completed his routine, then said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cakes, wild rice, peas, green beans, and toaster corn bread rounds.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.
