5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Stephanie M. and I spent a few minutes discussing the day’s events before she left.  Dr. Vesper stated he was hungry, so I took his dinner order and began cooking.  Rose napped during this time, but was awake and ready to eat once dinner was served.  The going was slow, but she ultimately ate 90% of her meal.  Dr. Vesper enjoyed a hearty appetite and finished quickly.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  Rose and Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (about 1/3) of her teeth.  I removed her wet Depends which was saturated through her pants.  It also contained a trace of feces, but she produced no bowel movement while seated.  Once we finished, I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  I waited while Dr. Vesper completed his night time routine, then said good bye to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room and Michele in the kitchen.  Mossy arrived at the same time to retrieve an item she had forgotten.  We all visited for a few minutes while Michele brought me up to speed on the day’s events.  After they left, I took Doctor’s dinner order, set the table, and began cooking.  Rose napped during this time, but was fairly alert and ate well once dinner was served.  She completed nearly 100% of her meal.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to eating was 135.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in routine fashion.  After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  There were extremely high winds which knocked the power out briefly, but it resumed in less than a minute.  I reset the clocks and cable box, which was stuck on “boot”, then gave Rose and Doctor their night time medications.  Dr. Vesper decided to use the bathroom first and asked that I turn the TV on in his bedroom.  Once he was in bed, I took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed her teeth.  She was quite rigid and allowed no flossing.  I removed her saturated Depends and she had a small bowel movement while seated on the commode.  Once in bed I applied her eye drops easily.  She was fairly chatty at this point and we all said good night as I tucked them in.

Dinner:     Salad and chicken pot pie.  Dr. Vesper drank diet cherry 7up and Rose had kefir milk.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room while Jessica and Stephanie M. were in the kitchen.  Jessica was getting a head start on preparing dinner for a family meal.  As always, Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  After she left, I set the table and prepared salads for Rose and Dr. Vesper.  They were just finishing those salads as Andrew and the kids arrived.  Because Stephanie G. was running late from work, we elected to start eating dinner.  Rose and Doctor both ate extremely well, with Rose eating far more than I expected.  She was awake and alert the entire time.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to eating was 117.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, everyone pitched in to clean up while I fed Rose dessert.  Stephanie arrived as I finished with Rose and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave Rose and Dr. Vesper their evening medications while Andrew and the kids said good bye.   Stephanie and Jessica took Tyler to the back for his bath around this time and I took Rose for her night time toilette.  She was quite rigid while changing her clothes, yet very alert and chatty.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and (minimally) flossed her teeth.  I removed her Depends which was saturated through her pants.  She had a moderately large BM which started in her Depends.  She tolerated clean up well and I took her to bed.  I applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper brushed his teeth and made his way to bed at the same time.  Stephanie and Jessica both came to the bedroom and we all said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, macaroni and cheese stuffed peppers, and Italian bread.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Caregiver Stephanie spent a few minutes bringing me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  As Rose napped, I chatted with Dr. Vesper, then made my way to the other side of the house to ask Jessica if she and Tyler wanted to join them for dinner.  She told me that Stephanie and her family were on their way and had plans to cook.  While waiting for them, I set the table and made salads for Rose and Dr. Vesper.   Once Stephanie arrived, I helped her with some of the meal prep while Tyler entertained Grandma and Grandpa.  When dinner was served, Rose and Dr. Vesper both ate well, though the going was slow for Rose.  She was awake and fairly alert the entire meal.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, the entire family pitched in to clear the table, clean the kitchen, and wash the dishes while I fed Rose dessert.  While they visited with each other, I gave Rose and Dr. Vesper their night time medications, replenished Kemper’s water bowl, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I then took Rose to the bathroom for her evening toilette.  We followed our usual routine beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing her teeth.  She allowed no flossing tonight.  I removed her Depends which was saturated through her pants.  She had a small bowel movement while seated on the commode.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  She was fairly chatty up to this point, but was snoring before I left the room.  I waited while Dr. Vesper completed his night time routine, then said good bye to him.

Dinner:     Salad, baked BBQ chicken, fried rice, fresh green beans, and rolls.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up. They both had chocolate cream pie for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were in the living room enjoying the company of Jessica and Tyler.  We all chatted for a few minutes as Michele emptied the dishwasher.   She brought me up to speed on the day’s events before leaving.  I set the table, took Dr. Vesper’s dinner order, and began cooking.  Jessica and Tyler had plans to dine out, so it was just the three of us.  Rose was awake and alert, and they both had good appetites.  Dr. Vesper and I had lively conversation and Rose would chuckle whenever we laughed.  She completed about 90% of her meal.  Dr. Vesper’s blood glucose level prior to eating was 77.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I also replenished Kemper’s water bowl and took out trash.  Jessica and Tyler returned and visited with Grandma and Grandpa for a few minutes as I completed these tasks.  Tyler kept us entertained while he and Kemper chased each other.  Rose stayed awake and seemed aware of the entertainment.  When they retired, I gave Rose and Doctor their night time medications, then took Rose to bathroom for her evening toilette.  We followed our usual routine beginning with me washing her face and hands, then brushing and flossing (anterior only) her teeth.  Her brief was damp and she had a small BM while seated.  I got her to bed and applied her eye drops easily.  Dr. Vesper finished his routine and I said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, sweet and sour chicken, jasmine rice, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room.  Mossy and I chatted about the day’s events before she left.  She had set the table, prepped the salads, and readied all medications and breakfast items prior to my arrival, making it a very easy start to my shift.  Dr. Vesper stated he was hungry, so I began cooking right away.  Rose slept deeply during this time and I had difficulty keeping her awake throughout the meal.  She ultimately ate about 75% of it.  Dr. Vespers’ blood glucose level prior to eating was 104.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Rose and Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, took out the trash, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I gave them their evening medications, then took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was awake and very rigid during my efforts to change her clothes.  I washed her face and hands, then brushed and flossed (all) her teeth.  Once on the lift I removed her wet Depends which was saturated through her pants.  It contained a small stool and she completed a moderated BM while on the commode.  She tolerated the clean up well and I got her to bed easily where I applied her eye drops.  She fell asleep immediately.  Dr. Vesper was not in a hurry for bed, but I finally got him moving.  I waited while he completed his night time routine, helped him change into fresh pajama bottoms, then into bed.  Rose was wide awake when I said good night to them both.

Dinner:     Salad, Italian chicken, wild rice, peas, and toaster corn bread rounds.  Rose drank kefir milk, and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had ice cream (Lactaid) for dessert.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Rose and Dr. Vesper were relaxing in the living room awaiting the arrival of Stephanie and her family to celebrate Lily’s 19th birthday.  Caregiver Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  I set the table, readied the bathroom for Rose’s night time routine,  then chatted with Dr. Vesper as we waited for the guest of honor and her family.  Mossy stopped by briefly to drop off a gift.

7:00-9:00     Once everyone arrived, Andrew prepped while Stephanie cooked a most delicious dinner.  There wasn’t much for me to do until it was time to serve dinner.  Rose and Dr. Vesper both seemed comfortable with Rose being alert the entire time.  They ate well, though the going was slow for Rose.  She ate about 75% of her meal.  While I finished with her, the rest of the family cleaned up the dishes, then went to the living room to watch Lily open gifts.  Rose remained alert and even verbal as she sat with Stephanie watching the activities.  I finished a few things in the kitchen, set out breakfast items and morning medications, then gave Rose and Dr. Vesper their evening medications.  As things wound down and everyone said good night, I took Rose to the bathroom for her night time toilette.  She was tired, but very rigid as I changed her clothes and washed her face and hands.  I heard Dr. Vesper coming down the hall, so we vacated the bathroom in order for him to complete his night time routine.  Once he finished, Rose and I returned and finished her oral care.  She was very tight lipped allowing me to brush her teeth only.  Once on the commode, I removed her wet Depends which contained a moderate stool.  She produced some urine, but no more BM while seated.  After clean up, I got her to bed and applied her eye drops.  She fell asleep immediately.  Dr. Vesper and I chatted a few more minutes before I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Pesto chicken with pasta, rice, fresh green beans, and rolls.  Rose drank kefir milk and Dr. Vesper had diet cherry 7up.  They both had birthday cake and ice cream for dessert.
