5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in his recliner watching TV.  He and Stephanie greeted me and we continued with some small talk regarding the day’s events before she left.  Doctor stated he was hungry, so I took his dinner order and began cooking right away.  He dozed lightly as I cooked, but was eager to come to the table when dinner was served.  He quickly ate his salad, but then slowed significantly when the main course was served.  He ultimately ate well, completing most of his meal.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 146 and he received his evening medication when he was finished.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I joined him for a few minutes while he watched “Two and a Half Men”.  He did not sleep, but unfortunately, I was unable to engage him in any conversation like the night before.  When it was time for bed, I assisted him in the bathroom, then into his bed.  I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, meat loaf, corn, mashed potatoes, dinner roll, and diet cherry 7up.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was dozing lightly in his recliner.  He and Stephanie both greeted me as I entered the home.  Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  Dr. Vesper and I chatted a few more minutes before I took his dinner order.  He stated he was very hungry, so I began cooking right away.  Just as he finished eating his salad, Jessica called and he enjoyed talking with her.  I served him the rest of his dinner, which he ate slowly, but completely.  He took his evening medication when he was finished.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I joined him in the living room where we engaged in lively and lengthy conversation covering several topics ranging from family, to sports, to coronavirus.  I only hope he enjoyed our interaction as much as I did!  At bedtime I assisted him to the bathroom for his night time routine.  He ambulated the entire evening, but was very fatigued by the time I helped him into bed and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cake, wild rice, peas, toaster corn bread round, and diet cherry 7up.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was dozing in his recliner.  He woke long enough to say hello and participate in brief conversation, but then fell back to sleep.  Michele and I discussed the day’s events before she left.  I woke Dr. Vesper to take his dinner order and he requested a very simple meal.  The house was also in good shape making it an easy, quiet start to my shift.  When it was time to eat, Doctor ambulated to the table and did not require the wheelchair at all this evening.  He ate quickly and well.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 124.  He received his evening medications when he was finished eating.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I joined him in the living room where we watched Fox News, which focused mostly on the president’s condition.  I tried to engage him in conversation about this and other topics, but then he would lose interest and doze off.  He seemed comfortable and I did not hear him cough at all.  At bed time I assisted him in the bathroom with his night time routine (he did require a pajama change), then helped him into bed.  I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken pot pie, and diet cherry 7up.

5:00-7:00     As is customary, Dr. Vesper was dozing in his recliner when I arrived.  However, he woke quickly to say hello.   Stephanie and I discussed the day’s events before she left.  I took Doctor’s dinner order and began cooking.   When it was time to eat, he was sleeping more deeply and was fairly confused as to the time of day.  He maintained that he was very hungry and had a healthy appetite once we made it to the table.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 139 and he took his evening medications at the end of his meal.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of the evening ran in quiet, routine fashion.  Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, took out trash, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I joined him for a few minutes in the living room and he was far more interactive than the previous two nights.  We enjoyed good conversation and a few minutes of Monday night football before it was time to get ready for bed.  He ambulated to the bathroom with me following close behind with the wheelchair.  His legs were weak, but he was determined to make it there without a ride.  I assisted him in the bathroom, then helped him into bed when he was finished.  As always, he was quite gracious in his thanks for all of our care.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken cordon bleu, macaroni and cheese, peas, garlic toast, and diet cherry 7up.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was napping in his recliner.  Michele and I discussed the day’s events before she left.  I woke Dr. Vesper long enough to announce my arrival and get his dinner order.  While I was cooking, he received a call from Mary and enjoyed a short chat with her.  When it was time to eat, there was some confusion as to the location of the dining room.  However, Doctor enjoyed a hearty appetite and quickly completed 100%  of his meal.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 140.  He received his evening medication after eating.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Though I tried to engage him in conversation, he dozed the remainder of my shift till bedtime.  I assisted him to the bathroom for his night time routine, then helped him into bed.  He was very fatigued as I tucked him in and said good night.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was napping in his recliner.  Stephanie filled me in on the day’s events before she left.  I folded a few items in the dryer, then woke Doctor long enough to say hello and take his dinner order.  He was confused as to the time of day and how long he had been sleeping.  He asked if I could wait a bit before starting dinner.  When it was time to eat, he was more oriented and stated he was hungry.  He agreed to go to the bathroom first, and then we made our way to the dining room table.  He was able to ambulate to the bathroom, but required a ride back to the dining room.  Once he was seated and eating, he enjoyed a healthy appetite.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 132.  He received his evening medication after his meal was complete.

7:00-9:00     Just as Dr. Vesper was finished his meal,  Stephanie came by for a brief visit.  She had greater success engaging him than I did, but he still nodded off briefly while we chatted.  After she left,  he returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I then assisted Doctor to the bathroom for his evening routine, then helped him into bed.  He needed the wheelchair for the rest of the evening and seemed more fatigued than usual.  I tucked him in and said goodnight.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken pot pie, and diet cherry 7up.
