5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in the living room watching TV.  As always, Stephanie M brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  Doctor stated he was hungry, so I took his dinner order and began cooking.  He made his way to the bathroom just minutes before dinner was served and came straight to the table afterward.  He wasn’t particularly talkative, but we did enjoy watching some old sitcoms while he ate.  Toward the end of the meal, he received a call from Jennifer, which certainly brightened his spirits.  Prior to eating, his blood glucose level was 109.

7:00-9:00      After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Though I had some difficulty engaging him earlier, he seemed more eager for conversation after dinner, so we enjoyed chatting until it was bedtime.  I gave him his night time medications, then waited as he completed his bathroom routine.  He seemed suddenly very tired and shaky, requiring more assistance than usual with changing his clothes.  When I suggested he was fatigued from the therapy earlier in the day (PT and OT), he said he had no recall of it.  I got him tucked in, made sure he was comfortable, and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, crab cake, baked asparagus with 4 cheese sauce, wild rice, toaster cornbread round, diet 7up, and ice cream (Lactaid).

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room watching TV.  Stephanie M brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  Around this time, Dr. Vesper made his way to the bathroom, then back to the living room.   I ran the vacuum quickly in the kitchen and living room, then took Doctor’s dinner order.  He stated he was hungry and requested a simple supper, which I began cooking immediately.  He ate well, but was very quiet during dinner and throughout my shift.

7:00-9:00  After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room to watch more TV.  I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I touched up the bathroom, then gave Dr. Vesper his evening medications.  He seemed very fatigued and was eager to get to bed when it was time.  His gait was less steady as I accompanied him to the bathroom and assisted him into bed.  I tucked him in and said good night.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in the living room.  While he went through his mail, Michele brought me up to speed on the day’s events.  After she left, I set the table, took Doctor’s dinner order, and began cooking.  It was a quiet, uneventful start to my shift which continued throughout.  Dr. Vesper enjoyed a hearty appetite and  his blood glucose level prior to eating was 109.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I kept him company as he watched a nature program involving horses.  He reminisced about Rose’s love of horses briefly, but then changed the subject.  He was generally quiet, but stayed upbeat.  At bedtime, I gave him his medication and waited while he performed his night time routine.  Once he was in bed, I tucked him in and said good night.  He was watching the old movie “Lawrence of Arabia” and asked that I turn it on for him in the bedroom.  He assured me he could turn it off himself when he was ready to sleep.

Dinner:     Salad, baked salmon, asparagus with 4-cheese sauce, wild rice, toaster cornbread round, diet cherry 7up, and ice cream (Lactaid).

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room chatting on the phone with Mary.  While he was talking, Stephanie and I discussed the day’s events before she left.  After he finished his call, he made his way to the bathroom, then back to the living room where he watched TV and looked through his mail till dinner was served.  He enjoyed a good appetite and was more conversant than the previous evening.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 125.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Doctor returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  He received a call from Joan, which I know he enjoyed.  As bedtime approached, I gave him his evening medications and waited while he performed his routine.  I tucked him in and said good night.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was watching TV in the living room.  Stephanie M filled me in on the day’s events before leaving.  She had set the table and prepped the dinner salad making it a very easy start to my shift.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper for a few minutes, took his dinner order, and began cooking.  He enjoyed a hearty appetite and ate well.  While we were at the table, Stephanie, Andrew, and Charlotte stopped by to drop off a car and to say a brief hello.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  He spent the remainder of the evening watching a variety of programs including Alpine skiing and National Geographic.  At bed time I gave him his evening medication and waited while he completed his routine.  He required no real assistance, though he seemed fatigued.  After I tucked him in, we said good night.

4:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in his recliner watching TV.  Stephanie M brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  Other than feeding Kemper and replenishing his water bowl, there was very little for me to do until dinner time.  The house was already in great shape, the table set, and salad prepped.   I was able to engage Dr. Vesper in some conversation, but he seemed fatigued and more interested in his program.  He also perused his mail until it was time to eat.   Once dinner was served, he ate well and seemed more interested in chatting.  Prior to eating, Doctor’s blood glucose level was 115.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper went to the bathroom, then returned to his recliner and enjoyed a bowl of ice cream.  I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, took out the garbage, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I tried to get Dr. Vesper to play some cards and/or help me solve some crossword puzzles, but he was not interested in either.  He was very quiet, but focused on a WWII documentary.  He spoke of Rose occasionally with much sadness and questioned where Jessica and Tyler had gone.  At bedtime, I gave him his night time medication and waited while he performed his evening routine.  He got in bed with minimal assistance from me.  After I tucked him in, he thanked me graciously for helping him and keeping him company.

Dinner:     Salad, beef with peppers and onions, rice, garlic bread, diet cherry 7up, and ice cream (Lactaid)

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room with Jessica watching TV.  Stephanie M and I discussed the day’s events before she left.  I chatted with Dr. Vesper and Jessica, then set the table and made salad for Dr. Vesper and Charlotte in anticipation of dinner courtesy of Stephanie.  When she arrived, she and Jessica began prepping and cooking what was a most delicious meal!  Dr. Vesper went to the bathroom around this time, but otherwise, was very content.  I felt quite spoiled as there was little for me to do.

7:00-9:00     Once the other guests arrived, I seated Dr. Vesper so he could start eating his salad.  He enjoyed a hearty appetite as well as the company of his family.  When dinner was finished, everyone pitched in to clean up and Dr. Vesper returned to the living room.  He enjoyed a bowl of ice cream while things were winding down.  I gave him his night time medication and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Once everyone said good night, Dr. Vesper went to the bathroom to complete his night time routine.  When he was safely in bed, I said good night to him.

Dinner:     Salad, beef with onions and green peppers, rice, artisan bread, diet cherry 7up, and ice cream (Lactaid).
