5:00-7:00     Dr. Vesper was sleeping soundly in his recliner when I arrived.  As always, Stephanie filled me in on the day’s events before she left.  He woke shortly after and we spent a few minutes chatting.  He said he was hungry, so I took his dinner order and began cooking.  His sister, Mary called and they enjoyed a nice conversation just before dinner was served.  Dr. Vesper ate well and his blood glucose level prior to eating was 135.  He did have some difficulty ambulating to the dining room table and back.  He took his evening medications at the end of his meal.

7:00-9:00     The remainder of my shift ran in quiet, routine fashion.  Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, set out breakfast items and morning medications, and took out the trash.  We watched some beautiful film footage on National Geographic until it was time for bed.  He seemed stronger and more steady on his feet as I assisted him in the bathroom with his night time routine and then to bed.  I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, lemon pepper baked salmon, peas, wild rice, toaster corn bread round, and diet cherry 7up.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was napping in his recliner.  Stephanie filled me in on the day’s events before she left.  I woke Dr. Vesper to get his dinner order and chatted with him briefly before he fell back to sleep.  He requested a simple meal, so I took a few minutes to empty the dryer and finish making the bed.  I returned to the kitchen to make supper and Doctor continued to nap until it was time to eat.  He enjoyed a hearty appetite, but remained quiet throughout the meal.  He took his evening medications after eating.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  I joined him in the living room for a few minutes of “Animal Planet” until it was time for bed.  I assisted him in the bathroom with his night time routine and he was visibly fatigued as I helped him into bed.  I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, chicken pot pie, and diet cherry 7up.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was in the living room watching TV.  He, Michele, and Kemper all greeted me.  We discussed the events of the day before Michele left.  Dr. Vesper stated he was getting hungry, so I took his dinner order and began cooking.  When dinner was served he enjoyed a healthy appetite and was very interactive.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 94.  He took his evening medication when he was finished.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, and set out breakfast items and morning medications.  Stephanie arrived for a visit and kept her father company as I completed those few chores.  After she left, Dr. Vesper alternated between watching TV and reading his WS Journal till it was time for bed.  I assisted him to the bathroom, then then to bed where I tucked him in and said good night.

5:00-7:00  When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was napping in his recliner.  My entry did not wake him.  Stephanie and I discussed the day’s events before she left.  As she said good bye, Doctor woke long enough to note the “changing of the guard”.  We chatted for a few minutes and I took his dinner order.  He rapidly fell back to sleep as I prepped and cooked his meal.  I also folded and stored some laundry that was in the dryer.  When dinner was served, he enjoyed a hearty appetite and ate his entire meal.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 144.  He took his evening medication when he was finished eating.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, set out breakfast items and morning medications, and took out the trash.  I tried to engage Dr. Vesper in conversation, shared pictures, and encouraged reading his WS Journal,  but he seemed highly fatigued and continued to nap until bedtime.  I assisted him to the bathroom and with his night time routine, then helped him into bed.  As always, he expressed his gratitude for all our help.

5:00-7:00     When I arrived, Dr. Vesper was relaxing in his recliner watching TV.  After saying hello, I gave him his WS Journal and some magazines, but he opted to nap rather than read.  Stephanie brought me up to speed on the day’s events before she left.  I woke Dr. Vesper long enough to take his dinner order and make sure he was comfortable, then began cooking.  When it was time to eat, he was a confused as to the time of day and his location.  It was gray and rainy all day which makes me wonder if the monotony played a part in that.  He did enjoy a healthy appetite and seemed more himself once we were seated at the table.  His blood glucose level prior to eating was 120.

7:00-9:00     After dinner, Dr. Vesper returned to the living room while I cleaned the kitchen and microwave, washed the dishes, set out breakfast items and morning medications, and took out the trash.  At bedtime I gave Doctor his evening medication, then assisted him to the bathroom for his night time routine.  He was fatigued, but able to ambulate the entire shift.  Once in bed, I tucked him in and said good night.

Dinner:     Salad, Mossy’s sweet and sour chicken, long grain rice, toaster corn bread round, and diet cherry 7 up.
