COMMENTS:
Rose had an average day, she ate well and took her normal afternoon nap after her shower. She was alert and somewhat focused most of the day, but was showing signs of fatigue by bedtime. Dr. Vesper had been up earlier, ate breakfast and went back to bed before I arrived. it was almost 2p when he got up the second time. He spent the balance of the afternoon going through his mail, reading and watching TV. I had a busy day, trying to combine my normal Tuesday with items for the rest of the week, since I’ll be off W-T-F-S. After dinner, they watched TV while I cleaned up the kitchen, did dishes, set out breakfast items and am meds for tomorrow. PM meds and bedtime routine all normal.

Rose relaxed after breakfast while I cleaned up the kitchen and finished putting away supplies. Rose had a late day shower after lunch and 2 PM meds. She had a necessary long nap before dinner. Dr. Vesper went back to bed after breakfast, but was up in time to leave for church & the gym. He was home around 3p, had his usual protein bar & coffee, then shared some fruit with Rose. After going through the mail and reading the WSJ, he watched TV. It was a cold/nasty/rainy day and since they had a late afternoon snack, he decided on a light soup and sandwich dinner. After dinner, they watched TV while I cleaned up the kitchen, folded towels and prepared for bedtime routine. While Rose was getting into her pajamas, she told me she didn’t want to do this anymore😕

Elena – Cleaned

COMMENTS:
The day did not start well for Rose, when I went in to get her up she had tears coming from the corner of her eyes, when I asked her if she was OK, she whimpered no. I laid down next to her and tried to soothe her. Elena joined in and soon we had her cheered up. The rest of the day went well, no more sadness. Rose ate well today, and took (2) light naps. Dr. Vesper had been up earlier, ate breakfast and went back to bed. Unfortunately, I had to get him up as soon as I arrived so he could be ready to leave the house by 10:30 for his play date with Mary. Thankfully, his cell phone was ready for pick up this morning. He and Mary spent the rainy afternoon at the art museum, he couldn’t remember if they had lunch or not. They also visited with Alan & Veva. He arrived home around 4p, watched the news until dinner. Dinner, cleanup, meds and bedtime prep all routine.

NOTE:
Michele Dalton (Caregiver) was not comfortable using the lift, the office felt she just needed more training time. She came back this afternoon, we practiced the use of the lift using me instead of Rose, she did very well and certainly increased her level of confidence, she said she felt much better about her abilities.

COMMENTS:
Rose had a comfortable day and ate well.  Rose didn’t have a good nap today, she dozed off several times, but nothing serious. Dr. Vesper went back to bed after breakfast, but got up in time for church & the gym. When the electricity (and the landline) went out last night, I tried to use his cell to call Duke and discovered his phone had separated into two pieces and wouldn’t work. This morning, I gave him a note and a map showing him where AT&T was located at Beechmont and Hopper Hill Road. I checked “find my friends” around 4p and located him in Mt Washington, I called him and he said he had driven up and down Beechmont several times and couldn’t find AT&T. I got him turned around and gave him a few landmarks, he did remember where Home Depot was located. I monitored his location until he arrived at AT&T and assumed my job was complete. Unfortunately, AT&T sent him somewhere to have his phone repaired and I was back to square one. It was almost 5:30 when he arrived home. He had to leave his phone, he wasn’t sure when it will be ready, I’ll check on it tomorrow.  Dinner ran a little late, although I had started dinner and just needed to put the finishing touches on when he arrived, he wanted a few minutes to relax and go through his mail. clean up and bedtime prep all routine.

NOTE:
He’s doing lunch and a movie with Mary Del tomorrow, I hope we don’t have a repeat performance. He’s traveling at non-peak traffic times, and he usually doesn’t have any problems going to Mary’s, at least once he gets out of Clifton. One little problem, he won’t have his phone in case of an emergency and I won’t be able to track him.

COMMENTS:
Rose was alert and responsive today, she ate well, had a nice nap in the afternoon. Her shower was difficult today, due to leaning and rigidity. Bedtime was just the opposite, very relaxed. Dr. Vesper had been up, ate breakfast and was back in bed before I arrived this morning. A few minutes after 10 AM Dr. Vesper called my cell phone from his bedroom, wanted to know which caregiver was supposed to be here today. I walked into the bedroom while still talking to him on the phone. I reminded him that it was Tuesday and I am always here on Tuesday, other caregivers are only here on my weekend off. He said he was confused because there had been a lot of different people here lately. Then he asked me why Rose was still in bed, because he was sure she was hungry. I told him I had just arrived and assured him I would be giving Rose her breakfast right away. Later, when I cleared his breakfast table I noticed he had only taken one bite out of his scone, drank very little coffee and I think he fed his cereal to Kemper, the bowl was licked clean. When he got up around 3p, all was right with the world. He appeared to be his normal self. I asked him if he was feeling OK, he assured me that he was not sick. He picked up the mail and after going through the mail he read and watched TV until dinner. After dinner, they were watching TV and I was clearing the table when the power went out. After reporting the outage, I got out flashlights and candles, then did the dishes while we still had some daylight. However, it was dark by the time we finished p.m. meds and headed to the bathroom. The (4) extra-large flashlights supplied sufficient light and all were tucked in safe and sound before the power came back on.

VISITORS/WORKERS:
Michele Dalton – Home Instead / Caregiver training
Jan Lammert – Home Instead / Caregiver training
Becky Schnell – Returned window shade & discussed fabric samples

COMMENTS:
Rose was up, bathed, dressed, had breakfast and all ready for her day. Dr. Vesper went back to bed after breakfast, but was up in time to leave for church & the gym. He arrived home a few minutes before 3p. Becky arrived shortly after 4p, she and I tried to re-attach the shade, but unfortunately she dropped a very small screw and we could not find it. I promised her I would pick one up at the hardware store and I think with Elena’s help, I can put it up. She felt terrible, but we all looked for that darn screw and could not find it. After a slight delay, she discussed the fabric options for the sofa & love seat. Dr. Vesper was not in favor of leather (Jessica’s suggestion) also, he has decided he doesn’t care for the one that he and Becky agreed on last week, wants something closer to the plaid he now has. Becky will continue to look, she will also check with Lazy Boy to see if this fabric is still available. We had (2) caregivers in for training today, Michele 10a-1p and Jan 2p-5p. With Becky thrown into the mix, it made for a busy day, especially for Rose. Michele was here in the morning and I was able to use Rose’s normal a.m. routine for training without duplicating the use of the lift. I used Jan on the lift (instead of Rose) to demonstrate the lift. Jan has used a similar lift with previous clients, but with a sling instead of straps, which helped to decrease training time. A day like today always calls for Frisch’s, Dr. Vesper gets junk food so seldom, he appreciates it every now and then,  especially if he can get a McDonald’s shake out of the deal. They relaxed and watched TV after dinner while I cleaned up the kitchen, did some catching up and prepared for their night time routine.

NOTE:
Both caregivers did very well today with their short and hectic training. Michele will be working two shifts (Fri 5/12 5p-9p & Sat 5/13 10a-5p) while I am in Miami next week. Jan will also be working two shifts (Wed 5/10 & Fri 5/12 10a-5p both days) while I’m in Miami. Mona, who trained last week, will also be working two shifts – Wed 5/10 5p-9p & Thurs 5/11 10a-9p. Of the above (3) caregivers, only Jan will be added to the regular rotation with Susan & Crystal.  Jan will be replacing Rhonda (resigned) and working every other Monday when I’m off.  Mona & Michele will be held in reserve for back up when needed.

VISITORS/WORKERS:
Jeannie – Bkkpr

COMMENTS:
Rose was very sleepy today, after getting her up and dressed, she fell asleep while I was making breakfast, she was in such a deep sleep it was difficult to wake her. She went back to sleep after breakfast and slept soundly most of the afternoon. She did finally wake up and became alert around 4p. Dr. Vesper didn’t get up the first time until 10:15, then went back to bed after breakfast, didn’t get back up until almost 3p. He spent the afternoon going through the mail, reading and watching TV. The WSJ didn’t come today, so he was short of reading material. Jeannie was here most of the afternoon, she spent most of her time cleaning out & storing old files. Dr. Vesper opted out of going to mass this evening, so dinner was earlier than a normal Saturday. Dinner, cleanup, pm meds and bedtime routine all normal.
