COMMENTS:
Rose relaxed after breakfast while I cleaned the kitchen and did the dishes. Rose had a late day shower after lunch and 2 PM meds. She had a nice long nap before dinner. Dr. Vesper went back to bed after breakfast, had his usual protein bar & coffee when he got up the second time around 2p. After going through the mail and reading the WSJ, he watched TV. After dinner, they watched TV while I cleaned up the kitchen, folded towels and prepared for bedtime routine.

NOTE:
I talked to Pat at Dr. Wilson’s office this morning regarding Dr. @ Vesper’s eye issue. Dr. Wilson wasn’t in the office, she called later to say they had scheduled Dr. Vesper for a carotid artery ultrasound on Monday at Anderson Mercy, Stephanie later changed it to the Christ building on Beechmont. I asked Pat if it was OK for Dr. Vesper to drive, she said as long as he could see, he could drive. However, she said he probably shouldn’t drive since he doesn’t know when these episodes are going to happen and how long they will last. I was able to convince him it was not safe for him to drive until we figure out what is going on with him. He didn’t leave the house today, no church, no gym, I picked up the mail for him.

NOTE TO CAREGIVERS:
Dr. Vesper has had (3) episodes this week with his left eye, (2) on Monday, both lasted (5) minutes, another episode Thursday evening at 4:30, which lasted almost (3) hours. He saw the ophthalmologist on Wednesday and was diagnosed a migraine without the headache. He could see, but it was very dark, like looking through dark sheer fabric. He has an appointment Monday at 11:30 for an ultrasound, his daughter will pick him up for this appointment. If he has any issues over the weekend, please call me or Stephanie. Call 911  if Stephanie is not reachable, he should be taken to Christ Hospital for evaluation and ultrasound.

VISITORS/WORKERS:
Elena – Cleaned /  unable to clean bedroom and put on clean sheets because Dr. Vesper was still sleeping soundly when she .eft @ 2:30p

COMMENTS:
Rose  had a good day, she was pleasant and relaxed, she ate well and took a nice nap. Dr. Vesper had been up earlier, ate breakfast and went back to bed. Usually I am able to get him up so Elena can clean the bedroom and change the sheets before she leaves at 2:30, today he  didn’t want to get up, he said he wasn’t sick, just tired.  When he did finally get up around 4 p, he had coffee and a protein bar,  at 4:30 he had another  episode with his left eye, which lasted almost 3 hours. I called Dr. Schott’s office,  after explaining Dr. @ Vesper’s symptoms, Dr. Schott said he would call Dr. Wilson and we should expect a call from Dr. Wilson .  When I had not heard from Dr. Wilson at 7 o’clock, I called his office. Dr. Osborne was on call, said he had not received a phone call from Dr. Schott.  After bringing him up to speed, he asked me to give Dr. Vesper (3) additional  .81 mg aspirin, he thought Dr. Wilson might want to do an ultrasound in the morning.  He also said to call 911 if present symptoms worsen or any new symptoms develop during the evening/night. Dr. Vesper had one more episode at 9:30, lasted 1/2 hr. Dinner ran  A little late, but cleanup, evening meds and bedtime routine all ran normal.

NOTE:
Yesterday I made a big assumption that Kemper had not eaten any of the deer bones he kept finding, big mistake. This morning,  I found approximately (1) cup of something on the bedroom floor .  I wasn’t sure if it was vomit or stool.  It was filled with small bones, some the size of a quarter and some were 1″ long,  all had a sharp jagged edges. I took to Vet for examination, he said it was vomit and we should watch for signs of bleeding.  Busy-busy day at the Vesperosa!

COMMENTS:
Rose had a comfortable day, she ate well and had a good afternoon nap. Dr. Vesper was up earlier, ate breakfast and was back in bed before I arrived. I got him up in time to leave for church @ 11:30. He was home from the gym around 3:30p After going through his mail and reading the WSJ, he watched TV until dinner. Dinner, clean up and bedtime prep all routine.

NOTE:
I talked to Dr. Schott’s office this morning and even though Dr. Vesper had not had any additional episodes, they defiantly thought he should be seen by Dr. Schott, they were able to squeeze him in at 1p. Dr. Vesper went for his appointment between church and the gym. By the time he returned home he couldn’t remembered what the doctor said, but thought everything was ok, he had an appointment card for follow-up on Tuesday, May 5/23

NOTE 2:
Kemper came home with a very large (12″) bone, not once, but 3Xs today, one was a complete deer hoof. I picked up and disposed of all “GIFTS” which he left on the doormat for me. I don’t think he consumed any, he just likes to show us what he has found.

COMMENTS:
Rose listened to music after breakfast while I did a few chores.  She seemed relaxed, but quickly became very rigid during her shower.  I think the rigidity was very exhausting for her.  As always, she had a nice nap after her shower.  Dr. Vesper went back to bed after breakfast, but was up by noon. He picked up the mail and after going through the mail and reading the WSJ, he watched TV until dinner. We finished Mary Lou’s chicken and rice casserole tonight, it was just as delicious second time around. Dinner cleanup, PM meds and bedtime routine all normal.

NOTE:
I talked to Dr. Wilson’s nurse (Pat) about Dr. Vesper’s eye problem yesterday. She said she would note his file and advised me to call Dr. Schott. I left a message @ Dr. Schott’s office, but hadn’t received a return call at end of day, I will call again tomorrow morning.

He was home after his workout at the gym around 3p. He spent the rest of the afternoon reading & watching TV.  After dinner Dr. Vesper told me about an eye problem he had this morning, couldn’t see well (everything dark) left eye only.  He said it only lasted about (5) minutes, but it did happen again (1) hour later, nothing since,  I will call Drs. COMMENTS:
Dr. Vesper was having breakfast when I arrived, he went back to bed for 1/2 hour before getting ready for church. Rose relaxed after breakfast while I did a few extra chores. Mary Lou wanted to have dinner ready @ 4p, she arrived @ 2p to get started.  Dr. Vesper return from church, had his usual protein bar and coffee.  Since breakfast was late and dinner was early, Rose only had a lite lunch after her shower.  Mary Lou called me earlier to inform me I was not allowed to do anything toward dinner prep, including setting the table.  She made a delishous dinner and made all the mothers feel special. Andrew, Lily and Sophie took care of dinner cleanup and then left to check on Charlotte.  Rose, Stephanie, Mary Lou and I shared cards & gifts in honor of our special day. Susan (caregiver) and Elena (housekeeper) both sent Mother’s Day wishes, so nice to work with such thoughtful and caring people.  Usually dinner runs late on special event days, but 4p worked very well, everything wrapped up by 7:30p, evening meds and bedtime routine all right on schedule.

Stephanie – Came by to pick up some leftovers from Buca di Beppo

COMMENTS:
Rose  was awake when I arrived, but seemed sleepy and fell asleep before dinner.  Michele gave me a report on the events of the day before leaving.  This was Michele’s first time alone with Rose, she was aware of a few items that she had forgotten,  all minor and correctable with practice.  Good job and welcome aboard Michele! Dr. Vesper was watching TV, but was eager to hear about graduation at UM and XU. I spent a few minutes  sharing pictures  and exercising a grandma’s right to brag.  The combination of Dr. Vesper not going to Saturday evening mass and carryout food from Boca made for a easy evening.   Since I had brought enough food from the restaurant to feed a small army, I invited Stephanie to join us for dinner, she wasn’t able to accept because her family was scattered with various activities, she did come by to pick up food to go. Rose had a short nap before dinner, but it didn’t do her much good, she appeared very tired throughout the evening. I had planned to give Rose a shower, but she was definitely not up  for that. Dinner cleanup, pm meds and bedtime routine all normal. Good to be back, I missed my friend.
