COMMENTS:
Dr. Vesper was still sleeping when Elena and I arrived, but got up about 10 minutes later. I got Rose up and helped Elena change the sheets while Dr. Vesper ate breakfast. After breakfast, he went back to bed and slept until almost 2p. Rose had a pleasant afternoon, napping off & on, she ate well and was her usual self. Dr. Vesper had made a slight improvement since I left him 9 days ago. Dinner, cleanup, evening meds and bedtime routine all ran smoothly. I had a wonderful vacation, but missed them terribly, glad to be back.

Mary Lou – Sat with Rose

COMMENTS:
I got Rose up, dressed and ready for breakfast, she was alert and ate well. Right  after breakfast I prepared Rose for her shower, she was very rigid,  maybe because her shower was too early. We were pressed for time because I needed to leave by 12:30 for Dr. Vespers appointment with Dr. Wilson. Mary Lou came to sit with Rose while we were gone.  Dr. Vesper was up at 10:30 this morning and had his usual breakfast.  He wanted to go back to bed after breakfast, I said he could, but for only 30 minutes. He agreed, but then was very difficult to get him back up.  Dr. Vesper had two rounds of dizziness while in Dr. Wilson’s office. Dr. Wilson diagnosed him with vertigo and recommended The Center for Balance for vertigo therapy, but he made the appoint for 2 weeks out just to make sure it wasn’t just post concussion.   Mary Lou reported that Rose did well while we were gone, they had a good time talking and listening to music. Rose had a late lunch as soon as we got home at 2:15. Dinner, PM meds and bedtime routine all normal.

COMMENTS:
Rose was alert this morning, ate a good hearty breakfast and had a good round of exercise. I finished putting away supplies and cleaned up the kitchen while Rose listened to music. Rose was in her “pleasant/foot-tapping” mood today, which made me happy, she had a few not so good days this week. Dr. Vesper also showed signs of improvement today, came to the breakfast table, fully dressed at 11a. He also shaved for the first time in several days. He went back to bed at noon and was still sleeping when Lucy relieved me at 3p.

COMMENTS:
Everyone was much improved today. Rose was up, had breakfast and then a quick shower before Polly arrived at noon. Dr. Vesper was up for breakfast at 10:30, he did go back to bed and slept until 4 PM, but came out of the bedroom fully dressed and much more alert. He used the walker, but wasn’t having the problem with dizziness as previously experienced. They both had their appetites back today, in addition to regular meals, we had an assortment of hors d’oeuvres during our afternoon spa day with Polly. They watched TV after dinner while I cleaned up the kitchen, did the dishes, prepared morning breakfast set up for Dr. Vesper, passed out p.m. meds and prepared for bed. Everyone tucked in before I left for the evening.

Tammy (Hayslip) & Family (Filled in for Sandy) – Watered & cleaned out gutters

COMMENTS:
Rose was in SloMo today, she ate a good breakfast and lunch, but slowed way down at dinner, took a long time, but finally finished all of her food. Polly was supposed to come today, but we switched it to tomorrow because I didn’t think Rose was up to a spa day. Dr. Vesper was up for breakfast at 10:15, but went back to bed after breakfast. I had to wake him at 2p so Elena could change the sheets and clean the bedroom. We had a little “citizenship” party for Elaine, we gave her a card, flowers and a “flag” cake. Elena became an American citizen on 7/24. She was both surprised and happy that we celebrated the event with her. After sharing a piece a cake with Elena, Dr. Vesper went back to bed. He asked me to put Rose back in bed so they could take their afternoon nap together. When he got up, he said he wasn’t hungry and wanted something light, we opted for soup and sandwiches. However, he only ate about 3/4 of his soup and half of a sandwich. We did have cake in the afternoon, I’m hoping that was the reason for his decreased appetite. Dinner, cleanup, evening meds and bedtime routine all ran smoothly.

NOTE:
I called Dr. Nichols (neurosurgeon) to ask about Dr. Vesper’s sleeping, they are ordering a followup CT and will call when scheduled.

NOTE:
Since Sandy and her family are on vacation this week, Tammy volunteered to water the flowers for her while she was gone. When they were here on Tuesday, Tammy’s husband (Jim) noticed debris in the gutters, today he brought his ladder and took care of the problem. Ray always said Jim was his favorite son-in-law, I see why:)
