COMMENTS:
Everyone was sleeping when I arrived at 9a. I did most of the chores before getting Rose up and into the shower. I helped Dr. Vesper into the shower and then finished dressing Rose. I left the bathroom door ajar and told him to call me when he was finished showering so I could assist him out, when I heard him call me just a few minutes later, I immediately went to the bathroom and found him on the floor. He didn’t remember me telling him to call me to assist him. Fortunately, he was not hurt, only his pride. I was able to get him up, using Rose’s lift. Andrew had just arrived early to start his traditional Mother’s Day pancakes, so he was able to assist an offer moral support. I was able to pull him up with the lift and get him in a sitting position on the commode, from there he was able to stand up and use his walker. I assisted him with dressing and got him to the family room, where he relaxed and had coffee while he waited for the family to arrive. I returned my attention back to Rose and made her (more) beautiful for her special day. Needless to say, I was running a little behind at this point, I had set the table and made the casserole last night and only needed to fry the bacon, which Andrew did for me while Sophie and Lily made a fruit salad. Stephanie, Charlotte, Mary Lou and Debbie arrived and we sat down to a lovely brunch. Brunch was followed by cards, flowers and gifts. Andrew and the girls took care of cleanup while the MOTHERS relaxed. Since we had a late brunch, Dr. Vesper wasn’t very hungry, so I made a lite dinner. PM meds and bedtime routine all normal.
NOTE:
We can no longer assume Dr. Vesper will follow instructions, I’m sure he’s not retaining information. I normally don’t assume anything with him, but today I was in the middle of getting Rose out of the shower and dressed, when he announced he was ready to take a shower. I ask him to wait, but he insisted on starting without me. I covered Rose with a blanket and assisted him into the shower, thinking I had a few minutes, I went back to Rose. When he called me a few minutes later, I thought “boy that was quick”, but was glad he remembered to call me. As it turned out, he wasn’t calling because he remembered to call for assistance, he was calling because he was on the floor.
