She tapped her feet and clapped her hands to music, she whistled, smiled, laughed and most of all – sat up straight all day. I think she would stayed awake all day, but Dr. Vesper wanted her to take a nap with him, so she slept from 4:30 to 6 PM, and then woke up refreshed and alert. She ate very well and drank lots of extra fluids today. Dr. Vesper worked the polls from 12-3p today, so he earned his afternoon nap.

Jacob Kennedy – Home for spring break /  Will be working for Dr. Vesper next week, weather permitting

COMMENTS:
Rose was completely saturated this morning, which was a good thing, at least we know she is able to void. However,  she failed to produce any urine in the afternoon even though she had a large quantity of fluids.   This is not unusual for Rose, she has always urinated more at night then during the day. I was able to get a few drops from her late afternoon, which I had Jacob drop off at Dr. Wilson’s office for me.  Dr. Wilson called me as soon as he tested her urine, to say it was negative for any UTI.  However, due to her low-grade temp and heavy night sweating, he wanted to start her on a 3-day regiment of the generic version of Cipro.   Her urine was very concentrated, Dr. Wilson thought her lack of fluid intake on Tuesday and Wednesday had resulted in slight dehydration. I didn’t attempt exercise today, but Rose ate well and was alert up until Roberta arrived at 5p when Rose was just starting to doze off. I did stay a few minutes to  assist Roberta with a very sleepy Rose.  Dr. Vesper went to church today and ran an errand, but didn’t go to the gym.

VISITORS/WORKERS:
Elena – Cleaned and was a big help with Rose on more than one occasion

COMMENTS:I called Dr. Wilson first thing this morning, he thought Rose was dehydrated and maybe a UTI. He said if I could get her to take fluids today and get a urine sample for testing that would be his first choice, if she didn’t take fluids, it would be necessary to take her to the emergency room for treatment. Rose drink a full glass of water immediately and continue to drink all day. I discussed with Stephanie and she thought it best not to go to the emergency room since Rose was hydrating. However, even thoughu Rose had a lot of fluid intake, she did not urinate. We will need to get a urine sample in the morning in order for Dr. Wilson to know if she has a UTI, he wants to start her on Cipro tomorrow if she has a UTI. Rose ate very well, in addition to a full plate of chicken cacciatore, she drank a bottle of protein shake for dinner. Dr. Vesper only went out to get the mail, spent the afternoon reading and watching TV, but no nap.

COMMENTS:
Rose had a very bad day, her eyes were closed and her chin was on her chest all day, but she didn’t seem to be asleep. I tried to feed her, but her mouth remained open and she wouldn’t swallow. She did eat about half of her breakfast, but lunch and dinner was hopeless, the best I could get her to do was about 1/2 of a protein shake for lunch and only a couple of sips for dinner. She didn’t seem to be in any pain and didn’t have a temperature, It was as if she had been drugged. She has had days like this before, but if tomorrow is the same I will call Dr. Wilson. She did seem some better when I put her to bed, she reacted with a gentle smile when I said good night, but I didn’t get my usual good night kiss. Dr. Vesper had his normal day, went to church and the gym, he too was worried about Rose.

COMMENTS:
We had a busy day, in the interest of shortening the summary here is the short version. Today was shower day, went smoothly. Mary Del came out for assistance in making air travel and ground transportation for AZ. Mary and Lee had lunch at Front St., Café. Hank Harrington arrived as we were leaving for dentist to do final sealing on all chimneys. Rose had dental appointment, she was very sleepy throughout her appointment which made their job easy, no cavities, teeth and gums looked good. Van had a dead battery, but discovered early enough that I was able to jumpstart and still make our appointment on time. Late dinner to accommodate late lunch, pushed bedtime late. Rose became uncomfortable during dinner, which turned out to be a lot of gas, but no BM.

Rose got up sleepy this morning, practically slept through breakfast and exercise. I put her in her recliner right after her 2p meds and she slept soundly until I woke her @ 5p. Dr. Vesper went to church and then met friends for lunch at O’Charleys in Eastgate. He got a little lost, but stopped in Milford for directions and made it back to Eastgate only 20 minutes late.
