COMMENTS:
Rose was very sleepy during breakfast, I was worried she was going back into her deep sleep mode, but after breakfast she perked up and had a fairly alert afternoon.  She & Dr. Vesper took a late nap together in the bedroom before dinner.  Dr. Vesper spent his early afternoon reading and watching TV,  we saw a very interesting  documentary on nova regarding Alzheimer’s research.  Dr. Vesper had a couple of episodes of dizziness, the first time was when he decided to go to Bethel Feed to purchase grass seed, he was sitting on the loveseat watching TV, when he stood up, he fell backwards onto the love seat.  He decided he would go outside and mow the lawn until the dizziness went away before he tried to drive to Bethel. I tried to stop him by pointing out that was not a smart idea, but he went outside anyway. Fortunately, just as he started the mower, it started raining.  He ran back inside and said he thought mother nature was trying to tell him something.  He had a second episode when he tried to get up from the table after dinner.  A third episode happened when he bent over to pick up a live frog, which somehow got into the house, this was the worst episode because  there was nothing to catch him,  he almost took a bad tumble on the hardwood.

Mary Del – Came out to return LJV drivers lic
Cropper (Lowell) – Slow drains in bathroom sink and shower, broken flush handle 1/2 bath in music room & frig ice maker leak????

COMMENTS:
We had a busy and long day.  Mary Del arrived early to return Dr. Vesper’s drivers license, apparently security (return from Tucson) handed them to her when they were doing a thorough search because someone had extra long toenail  clippers in there slacks?  I had scheduled the plumber to come out  tomorrow, but he was in the neighborhood and wanted to come today, it was a tight squeeze, but we fit him in.  We rushed to leave on time for our appointment with Dr. Shatz in West Chester, only to be delayed by accidents are n I-275.  Stephanie met me there and she will give a complete report to Jessica and Jennifer.

NOTE TO CAREGIVERS:
Rose will no longer be taking taking Targretin. Dr. Vesper is unaware of this change and we are not to tell him. I can’t imagine why he would ask, but if he should, just be evasive with answers like “yes, she has had all of her medications.” To avoid possible questions, give medication when he is out of sight. There may be more changes next week, please check blog for updates.

COMMENTS:
Rose  showed signs of improvement today, she ate and drank small amounts of food and water, and even danced a little to music. Her eyes were open and she was aware  of father Toms’ presences. She did have a nice long, but normal, nap in late afternoon.  Dr. Vesper slept late today, but still took a nap in the afternoon with Rose before church. He decided he wanted to pick up subway for dinner after church,  but I think he might have forgotten that idea, because he came home with McDonalds.  Rose seemed to have a little spurt of energy in the afternoon, but started to wind down early evening.

COMMENTS:
Rose had a very bad day, she was unresponsive and appeared to be asleep, even snoring at times. I kept her up for a few hours just trying to get her to eat, I was only able to get her to eat & drink a little at a time. I put her in bed for her nap, where I thought she would be more comfortable. Dr. Vesper slept in this morning until time for church. He called me after church to say he had a dead battery. He had the battery charger in the trunk, but it was of no use, because I was unable to walk him through finding the hood latch. I called Subaru and they went over to give him a jumpstart. After getting his car started, he went to the gym and worked out for couple of hours. On the way home from the gym his right front tire went off the pavement on Hopper Hill and completely ruined the tire. There is a pretty big drop off there where the water makes a gully when it rains. He couldn’t understand how a 10–12″ drop off could do so much damage to a tire. He didn’t realize he had a flat until he got on 52, then he had to drive to 10 mile to turn around and go back to Arnold’s, I think driving 2 miles on a flat may have done more damage than the 10-12″ drop off. Arnold’s didn’t have a matching tire, so they had to put the “donut” tire on until they could get one in a couple of days. He wasn’t comfortable driving his car downtown to his UC Med school reunion, so he insisted on driving the van downtown/at night/alone. He was unable to locate valet parking at the Hilton Netherlands Plaza and ended up parking underground at the Fountain Square, and then wasn’t sure how to get back to the hotel.  I was very concerned about him being able to locate his vehicle later, but Stephanie saved the day by driving down to pick him up and Andrew drove the van home. Everyone tucked in safe & sound.
