COMMENTS:
Dr. Vesper had gone back to bed when I arrive this morning. I spent some time doing chores before getting Rose up and ready for her doctor appointments with Dr. Wilson and nurse practitioner Joe Barone @ Dr. Corl’s office.  Rose was awake and somewhat alert during bathing and dressing, which made my job a little easier.  We saw Dr. Wilson first and by the time we got to Dr. Corl’s office Rose was starting to get sleepy.  Dr. Wilson wasn’t worried about the swelling in Rose’s left ankle and knee, thought it was Venus insufficiency, he didn’t think there was an issue with blood clots because her oxygen level was 98. Joe Barone agreed with Dr. Wilson,  but decided to schedule an ultrasound just to be sure, which will be done this Thursday.   I sent Stephanie a text when we arrived at Dr. Corl’s office, she was running errands and was able to stop by and join us.  Dr. WIlson ordered bloodwork and Joe Barone added (1) item to the lab order to check for fluid around the heart.  After seeing Joe Barone,  we went to the lab next door to Ohio Heart. Note:  Dr. Wilson sent us to the lab because Cedric is on  sick leave due to an accident.   I’m not sure what Dr. Vesper did today while we were gone. He went back to bed after breakfast and was still in bed when we left at 1 PM.  Since today was garbage day, I had gathered recycling and kitchen garbage  and placed bags outside front entrance, thinking he might take the garbage up when he picked up the mail.   I suspect he had just gotten up when we arrived home at 5 PM because the garbage was still there and he was dressed, but no shoes. I asked him if he had fed Kemper and if he had picked up the mail,  he answered yes to both, but hadn’t  done either.

COMMENTS:
Rose was sleepy today, but not as bad as yesterday. She did ok in the morning and early afternoon, she had a nap after her 2 PM meds. I woke her at 4:30 for a trip to the bathroom, don’t think her nap was complete, she was sleepy through dinner, but was able to eat. I was more  concerned about Dr. Vesper  today, he slept more than usual.   He had been up and ate breakfast, but was back in bed when I arrived at 9:45. He got up and dressed for church at 11:15, went to church & the gym.  He came home @ 3p, laid the mail on the counter and disappeared down the hall, I thought he had gone to the bathroom, but when he didn’t return I found him in the bedroom, where he slept until 5p.  He watched TV, went through the mail and read the WSJ while I made dinner. He finished eating before Rose was finished, which is normal, but he usually sits at the table and talks while he waits for dessert.  Today he got up as soon as he finished eating and walked down the hall, again I assumed he went to the bathroom, when he didn’t return to the table I found him in bed, where he stayed from 7-8p, he watched TV until 9:30 and then was back in bed for the night.   I did comment to him that he was napping a lot today and ask if he felt OK, he said he felt fine.

COMMENTS:
Rose was very sleepy this morning, we made it through breakfast, lunch and 2 PM meds before she had to have a nap.  Dr. Vesper went back to bed after breakfast, but was up at 11 and ready to mow the lawn and do some planting.  Unfortunately, that only lasted a couple of hours, then he was back inside and ready to take a nap with Rose.  Earlier in the day Stephanie and I had decided not to bring Rose to Andrew’s birthday dinner because of her sleepiness today, but when she got up from her nap she was wide-awake, so we changed our mind, which turned out not to be a good decision. Rose fell asleep on the way there and was so sleepy she didn’t eat a single bite of dinner.  Of course, she woke up just enough to eat dessert, and fortunately I had taken a protein shake, which she drank with her dessert. She was  completely out of it by the time we got home, meds, potty, PJs and into bed ASAP.  Dr. Vesper and I spent some time either covering or caring in plants and flowers due to a frost warning,  sure hope we don’t lose the beautiful flowers that are already planted.

COMMENTS:
The Rose show was a rerun of yesterday, she was alert and focused the first part of the day, but started to fade just before dinner. The swelling in her left ankle and knee was about the same as yesterday, I applied ice pack several times during the afternoon, but no noticeable improvement. Dr. Vesper went back to bed after breakfast and slept a couple more hours before getting up. He spent the rest of the afternoon watching TV and reading, before going to church.  I stopped at Home Depot this morning to pick up a bottle of deer repellent spray, but I was a day late, the deer ate (1) section of  impatiences and a couple of beautiful geraniums.

COMMENTS:
In addition to a swollen ankle, Rose had a swollen left knee when she woke up this morning, I’m so glad we have appointments with Dr. Wilson and Dr. Corl on Tuesday.  Rose was fine the first half of the day, but after her nap she never seem to fully wake up, her head was down and her eyes were closed,  she ate all of her dinner, but it took a long time and a lot of effort.  Dr. Vesper went  to church, the gym & Graeters , but forgot to pick up planting supplies  at Home Depot.  After Elena finished cleaning, she stayed (3) additional hours to help me plant flowers. The back is almost ready for mulch, and then we’ll move on to the front!

COMMENTS:
Rose was “bright eyed & bushy tailed” (Stephanie’s description) most of the day, but did start to fade early afternoon. Rose was relaxed, less rigid than usual and ate very well today.  I talked to the  nurse at both Dr. Wilson & Dr. Corl’s office regarding Rose’s left ankle, we have an appointment with both doctors on Tuesday 5/17. Dr. Vesper and I planted the few items in the afternoon, but when Sandy and Maggie arrived,  he opted to stay inside to nap with Rose while we planted flowers. We took a short break @ 6 for a quick dinner from  Frisch’s and then worked until we got rained out @ 8p.

COMMENTS:
Rose was alert, but a bit on the sleepy side, she ate well and took a nice nap in the afternoon.   While Rose slept in her recliner, Dr. Vesper and I  got started on planting flowers, we were just outside the family room where I had full view of Rose at all times.  Also, I was in and out of the house several times checking on her, as I was also doing laundry in between flower planting.   Dr. Vesper went to church today, but didn’t go to the gym. He called me after church to ask if I needed anything and said he didn’t feel like going to the gym. I think he just wanted to plant flowers.  I had arranged for Sandy Hayslip to come after school on Thursday to help me plant, and also arranged for a Elena to clean on Friday instead of Thursday so she could  stay a few extra hours to help me plant whatever Sandy and I didn’t get finished on Thursday. I reminded him  of this  arrangement, which he had agreed to, but he just couldn’t wait to get his fingers in the dirt.  He tired out pretty quickly, threw the towel in after two hours. Jeannie arrived @ 5:30, which was the excuse he was looking for.
