COMMENTS:
Rose had a good first half day, with the exception of a nasty storm in the middle of her shower. A lightning strike hit the alarm system, which had to be disabled in order to shut it off. Rose had a late nap again today, she didn’t want to wake up. She ate her dinner with her eyes closed, but did eventually eat about 90% of her dinner. Dr. Vesper spent the day inside reading, watching TV and napping.

COMMENTS:
The bedrail seems to be working, Rose was contained in her bed this morning. She had a good day, sat up straight and was alert. Her nap was too late today, she and Dr. Vesper took a late nap in bed and when I got her up for dinner at 6p, I couldn’t get her awake enough to eat, she only ate about half of her meal. Dr. Vesper went to church and the gym. Another hot day, but somehow Sandy managed to work all day in the torturous heat.

It was extremely hot today (93°) and very humid, Dr. Vesper stayed inside all day, except for a short trip out to water the flowers.

COMMENTS:
Rose was almost completely out of bed this morning when I arrived, she was on her tummy with the bottom half of her body on the floor, her chest and arms were still on the bed – definitely going to need to invest in bed rails. Jessica picked up guardrails at Target, they were for a baby bed and too small for our needs, but we will use until we can do better. Dr. Vesper went back to bed after breakfast and slept until 11 AM, then got up ready to mow the lawn. I tried to convince him it was too hot, but he was determined. He came back in the house about a half hour later and said the emergency brake was on, he couldn’t get it off so he just mowed with it on:( Thankfully, he didn’t stay out in the heat (91°) too long. He watched TV and then took a nap before going to church @ 4:30. Jessica had Danny’s aunt and her two granddaughters over to swim. Stephanie and Charlotte also came by for a late-day swim. We had a late dinner,  which ran bedtime a little late, but Rose had a long nap so all was well.

COMMENTS:
Rose had a very (physically) active day.  When I arrived, I found Rose crossways the bed, with both feet on the floor, as if she had sat down on the side of the bed and fell backwards.  Later, in the shower, she turned sideways and was  sliding toward the edge of her shower chair. Fortunately, we had completed her shower and Jessica was nearby to assist in getting her safely out of the shower.  Our third incident of the day happened while she was napping in the recliner. I received a return phone call from a reclining wheelchair vendor and stepped into the hallway to take the call because the TV was very loud.  A few  minutes later I heard a loud noise and came back into the room to find Rose lying on the floor.   Dr. Vesper was in the room with Rose, but didn’t  see what happened.  I checked Rose from head to toe, she was OK,  just a small red mark on her left thigh. It could have been worse, due to the proximity of the fireplace hearth. The new chair I was ordering when this happened, will prevent this from  reoccurring, it is due to arrive 8/1.  The new chair will recline for napping, has a much better footrest, and a lap tray to help contain Houdini.  Rose was very alert and active today, dancing and clapping her hands.  She ate well and took a nice nap, even if it did end on the floor.   Dr. Vesper went to church and the gym today, too hot for any outdoor activities today.

COMMENTS:
Rose ate very well today. She was very relaxed, with less rigidity than normal, making dressing and undressing a breeze. I hesitated putting her in the recliner for a nap because she didn’t seem sleepy, but decided it was best to get her feet up. Once in the chair, she pulled her knees up to her chest and turned sideways in the chair, and then danced her butt to music.  She eventually settle down and fell asleep.  Dr. Vesper went back to bed and slept until noon. He spent the afternoon meeting with Mike Scheu regarding the harvesting of his ash trees, and later, talk to Jeff about repairs to the waterfalls.  The rest of his day was spent reading and watching TV.

NOTE:
While Rose napped, I did some online research trying to locate a reclining wheelchair. The one I wanted is no longer available, I am trying to locate one on the secondary market.
