COMMENTS:
Rose was very alert and focused today, but not very verbal.  However, she did tell me “DON’T YOU DARE” when she thought I was taking her blanket.  It was a miserable rainy day and I thought Dr. Vesper might spend the day in his bedroom, but I was surprised when he was up and dressed by noon.  It was a lazy afternoon of reading and watching TV.  I rescheduled Dr. Vesper’s dental appointment that he missed yesterday. Also, refilled a couple of prescriptions.  Dinner, clean up, bedtime meds/eyedrops all routine.

COMMENTS:
Rose dozed a bit after breakfast, while I did a few chores. She also had a short nap after her early afternoon shower, I had to wake her for her 4:30 toileting.  Rose ate well and was in a pleasant mood today. As always, she was relaxed and sleepy after her shower. Dr. Vesper went back to bed after breakfast, I got him up at 11:15 for church.  No gym today, he was meeting Mary Del for lunch and a movie after church. He arrived home shortly after Rhonda arrived @ 5p

COMMENTS:
Rose had another day out, second this week. Today was a trip to the dentist for cleaning only.  I got her up as soon as I arrived, after breakfast we did a good round of exercises.  She had a lite lunch before getting ready to go to the dentist.  We used the Geri chair again today and it worked very well in the exam room, not so well getting in and out of the building without automatic doors, but we managed.  As always, Rose had a good exam.  We arrived home just in time for her 4:30 toileting and the arrival of Rhonda for her evening training session @ 5P.  Dr. Vesper had planned to spend the afternoon with Mary Del, but she called to say she wasn’t feeling well and rescheduled for tomorrow.  He went back to bed and slept until we got him up at 1p so he Elena could clean the bedroom. He drove up to pick up the mail  and was reading the WSJ when Rose and I left for the dentist. He spent the afternoon alone and was watching TV when we returned home.  Rhonda did very well with her training tonight, she has previously worked with similar lift equipment and felt comfortable transferring Rose.

COMMENTS:
We are slightly off schedule today because of training. Rhonda Coulter was here 10a-2p for training, we didn’t get to the training  for the 5p-9p shift, so I’m hoping she can come back for additional training time. Rhonda will be wotking Friday 5p-9p and Monday 10a-5p.  Rhonda has been with Home Instead for about (6) months, she has a good background in the medical field (prior to Home Instead) and should be a very good fit for Rose.  Dr. Vesper was just finishing breakfast when I arrived, he went back to bed and I almost forgot to get him up in time for church because I was busy with Rhonda. After church and the gym, he went to Mt Washington Jewelers to get his watch repaired.  Unfortunately, they told him it would be cheaper to buy a new watch, which they were happy to sell him for approximately $400, he decided against that idea.  I let him look at watchers on Amazon, after looking at several he decided on a Michael Coors, which was only $80.  While Rose took a late afternoon nap, I got caught up on chores that didn’t get done this morning, including the laundry.

COMMENTS:
Rose & Dr. Vesper both had appointments with Dr. Wilson today, so we started our morning routine in a bit of a rush. A phone call from Humana threw us off schedule at least 1/2 hour.  We were a little late getting to Dr. Wilson’s office, which is normally OK, but today he had a dental appointment, so we had to reschedule Dr. Vesper.  I used the Geri chair, which proved to be too large for Dr.  Wilson’s exam room, but since there were no other patients, Dr. Wilson examined her in the waiting room, after locking the office door.  Rose got a good report, labs were all good,  thyroid still not where it should be, so we will stay on the levothyroxine for a while longer.  Rose took a nap and became very limp in the middle of her exam, which made Dr. Wilsons job run smoothly. Some of the  unique features of the chair also helped to provide greater access for his exam.  We stopped at Arnold’s on the way home to check on the battery for Rose’s van, Ryan said it had a dead cell, so he will get a free replacement  and we will keep the new battery he installed last Friday @ no charge.

NOTE TO CAREGIVERS:
OK to increase MiraLAX from one half Dose to full dose per Dr. Wilson

COMMENTS:
Rose had a relaxing day, she ate well and took a nice nap in the afternoon.  Dr. Vesper had been up, ate and went back to bed before I arrived. I got him up at 11a, he got ready and left for church and the gym, was back home around 2:30p.  He missed his Wall Street Journal today, nothing to read in the afternoon, no mail due to holiday.  He had a Glucerna and a protein bar, then fell asleep sitting on the sofa.  After dinner, I gave him a haircut, he took a shower and decided to go to bed early.  Rose was very rigid tonight, it was difficult getting her into her PJs, but she was happy to be in bed.

COMMENTS
I got Rose up, dressed and ready for breakfast, and then got Dr. Vesper up and out the door to church at 11a.  Rose and I have a leisure Sunday morning with her favorite breakfast. Dr. Vesper was home by 1p, they spent the afternoon relaxing and watching TV.   Rose napped often on for a couple of hours, which gave me time to do a drug inventory and make notes on needed refills and questions in preparation of their appointment with Dr. Wilson on 2/21.  They watched TV after dinner while I did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen. Bedtime routine all normal.
