ARRIVED: 10am
CHORES: cleaned cat litter and swept that bathroom. Swiffered hard woods, fed kemper, refilled water pitcher and coffee basket for tomorrow, washed a few dishes, made bed, emptied urinal, wiped counter tops, table and watered plants. Made a salad for Dr. Vesper’s dinner.
BREAKFAST: cereal, scone and coffee
LUNCH: salami slices, cheese cubes, grapes and water.
COMMENTS: I have been trying to get Dr. Vesper up every 30 minutes since 11:30am. He finally showed his smiling face at 12:40 🙂
After taking his morning meds, I asked him a question. I don’t know if he couldn’t swallow the pills or was hurrying to get them down to answer me. He chewed them up and then began choking on them. I encouraged more water to get all the pieces down. I hadn’t realized he had the meds in his mouth or I would not have asked a question.
Dr. Vesper watching TV from about 2:30 through the remainder of my shift.

ARRIVED: 10am

BREAKFAST: cereal, scone and coffee
LUNCH: 1/2 ham and cheese sandwich, grapes, banana and water.
COMMENTS: Dr. Vesper was up early this morning at 10:30am. To the table for breakfast and coffee. We had a hard time with the TV this morning. I went to call cincinnati bell and found notes from Mossy in the cincinnati bell book. They worked perfectly but it did take about ten minutes for it to quit being slow and sticking. Just have patience if you ever need to do it.

ARRIVED: 10am
CHORES: cleaned cat litter and swept bathroom. Swiffered hard woods, fed kemper, refilled water pitcher and coffee basket for tomorrow, made salad, washed a few dishes, made bed, emptied urinal, wiped counter tops, table and watered plants.
BREAKFAST: cereal, scone and coffee
LUNCH: ham and cheese roll ups, grapes, banana and water.
COMMENTS: I spoke to Dr. Vesper several times during the morning with promises from him to get up soon. He did get up about 12:15. Ate his breakfast and read his bible.
He declined exercising and I told him Mossy is getting an exercise program ready for him. He chuckled and said walking to his chair, getting in and out of bed lol
I guess this is the new definition of a quiet day. Even though Rose didn’t participate, there is a void, without her presence. I guess the gloomy day doesn’t help. Dr watched TV most of the afternoon.
Jessica and Tyler are here at least thru Christmas. They went out for a few hours today.

Saturday December 1. 10am-5pm
ARRIVED: 10am
BATH: I got Rose dressed and cleaned up in her bedroom. Her pad from the night before was dry.
BREAKFAST: yogurt
LUNCH: cottage cheese
NAP: Yes
MEDS: (RV) morning meds, antibiotic & eye drops @ 11:00a, 2pm afternoon meds.
FLUID INTAKE: Water
URINE/BM OUTPUT: Pad dry at noon and 4pm break. No bm.
COMMENTS: Althought Rose was awake most of the day, eating still proves to be challenging. She at times will allow the spoon into her mouth, (half of the time she tightens her lips not allowing feeding) but the food kind of just lingers in her mouth. She actually drank and ate very little for me. In the morning she was refusing the straw but did sip from a glass. Towards the afternoon she did take occasional drinks from her straw.
At one time this afternoon her eyes got very big and she was looking off toward the ceiling, her breathing was shallow but rapid, lasting less than 30 seconds.
Dr. Vesper decided to join us at 12:45 but we sat at the kitchen table until about 3pm. He had his usual breakfast and ate grapes with ham and cheese rollups around 3pm.
Regarding Rose’s sore, I think it may be a good idea to let Rose stay in bed and turn her every 20-30 minutes in an effort to help healing and prevent it from getting bigger. Instead of having her in the gerichair sitting.
****this is only my opinion. This morning when I went to get rose up. Dr. Vesper was laying next to her with his hand on her stomach. He said feel this she’s so warm. So I felt her stomach which was warm, and he said, “this is why I love laying next to her”. My personal opinion is I feel that their time together is very short and I hated that I took her away from him this morning. But with her being so awake I thought it was an opportunity to get some nourishment into her. She did refuse to eat most everything that was given to her today and if I had today to do over again I would allow her to lay with dr. Vesper for as long as he chose.

COMMENTS: when I arrive Dr. Vesper and Rose were still sleeping. Mossy was here too bring me up to speed. She showed me how to navigate the boot on Rose’s foot. While I finished dressing Rose, Mossy helped Dr with shower.
Although Rose is much more alert, chewing her food seemed a challenge during breakfast. She may do better as the day progresses.
Jennifer came into town today. She took Dr. Vesper to church and then out to dinner. Dr. Vesper for was very happy to get out for the evening 🙂
They are having a big dinner tomorrow for the whole family.

COMMENTS: when I arrive Dr. Vesper and Rose were still sleeping. Rose up at 10:30. She was awake and alert. Due to her sore foot, I chose not to put the stockings on Rose. Cleaned her up in RR, pad was damp with some fecal smear. Getting Rose to take her morning meds was challenging. She did not close her mouth and swallow. I tried coaxing her and she did finally swallow. Instead of making breakfast I tried giving her ensure. She took 1 sip than fell asleep. I will feed her when she wakes up. 2pm meds. Her eyes are open, she takes her meds with 1/2 cup yogurt. So I made Rose an egg and 2 slices of bacon. She pocketed the first bite and did not respond to her ensure. I gave her some OJ with miralax and she responded better. Eventually eating 1 slice bacon, 1/4 egg and about 4oz juice.
Dr. Vesper up at 12pm. Ate his usual breakfast of cereal, a scone and coffee. 3pm he moved to the LR and I gave him grapes and turkey/cheese roll ups.
The remainder of the day was spent with Rose napping and Dr. watching TV. I tried to get him to change his pj’s but he declined. I did set out clean ones on his bed.

COMMENTS: when I arrive Dr. Vesper and Rose were still sleeping. Rose up at 10:50. She was awake and alert. Cleaned her up in RR, pad was wet with fecal smear. Out to breakfast. I made breakfast, Rose had 1 bite of all and fell asleep. Seemed a bit awake at noon. So I reheated her meal but she refused all, including her orange juice. 1pm she did eat better finishing about 1/3 of her meal. Rose ate all her cottage cheese at 2pm. She promptly fell asleep and is still sleeping sounding at the time that I am writing this.
Dr. Vesper up at 12pm. Ate his usual breakfast of cereal, a scone and coffee. Sat at the table until after 2pm. Reading and looking at mail. Dr. Vesper was a bit more talkative than usual and I enjoyed his witty humor.
The rest of the day was spent with Dr watching TV and Rose napping.
